eating the same--1 week no change, next week +2lbs?

I have been eating the same---1200 calories a day. I had a week where my weight stayed the same. The next week I gained 2lbs. The second week I did splurge and have some cake which pushed one days calorie totals to 1500. How is it possible for me to gain 2lbs for only deviating one day? I keep telling myself its not possible but the scale said the same thing the 3 times i checked.

I was consistently losing weight every week from 1-2lbs. I have tried changing up my foods, I am always within my calories, try never to leave extra, on the occasions I splurge its like once a month and I still never go over 1500 and its usually more like 1400 anyway.

I am about to start changing things up by adding more exercise and now I am confused. I dont know how my body will react and I am really scared to gain weight.

Any thoughts as to why the past two weeks have not yielded the desired results? Any recommendations what to do to keep losing weight? I had lost 18lbs in 4 months but this weeks gain put me down to 16lbs.

Weight fluctuates a lot. Sometimes, I do badly and still lose weight. Sometimes, I stick to it and lose none. You'll get used to it.
