Omicron fatloss monitor confusion

I've had one of these for over a year. I've found it to be fairly reliable. I also had my body fat measured, and the omicron underestimates by a percentage or so, but I figure as long as I know that I'm fine.
But now I'm genuinely confused.
On the advice of the professional who measured my body fat, I've been doing more strength training. (he said my body fat was great, but that I needed more muscle mass so that I could have a higher metabolism, and he's totally right.)
So I've been doing strength training for the past three months. I also added two days of 4 mile runs, so that I run 2-3 times a week, and crosstrain (elliptical and strength) on the other 3-4 days. I take one day off. On his advice I also dramatically increased my protein intake.
Now the good news is that I'm (visually) happy with the results. My arms are starting to look toned, etc. My weight went up the two pounds he recommended it go up, but otherwise it's stable. My body fat remained the same, until I added the four mile runs.
Now the fatloss monitor says my body fat is HIGHER than it was before!! It's frustrating. Anyone have any thoughts?
I don't think I'm doing enough cardio for it to be causing muscle loss: I read that you need an hour of consistent exercise for that to happen.
And I know a lot of people are going to say that if you like the way you look you should ignore the monitor. I get that. I just want to know what's going on here. If I actually am losing muscle, I want to be able to stop it.

I know some of those types of devices have a normal and athlete setting, some are just for 'normal' people, and it could be that adding your runs took you out of that category, so it will no longer work for you.0
