Antidepressants & Weight Gain

Question for anyone out there taking an antidepressant - I was previously taking Paxil 10mg for panic attacks and started to feel that I wanted to try weaning myself off the medicine. Well I was successfully and noticed when I stopped taking the meds I lost about 8lbs pretty easily. So my question is does anyone know if there is an antidepressant for panic attacks that does not have weight gain? I recently began having the attacks again and I really don't want to go back to paxil.

I hear you about the Paxil. I was on 40 mg for 7 years and gained some weight while on it. My new medication is Celexa. While some people have complained about weight gain on it anyway, the official side effects of the drug are a decrease in appetite. I've been on it for almost two months now and I've been successfully losing weight while on it. I've also noticed I'm not as hungry during the day when I only eat 1200 calories. This might be a good option for you.

I was on Celexa for 5 years and I gained a lot of weight. College food didn't help either. But I've been off the stuff for 2 years and I've never felt better. :)
