I should probably mention you need to like seaweed to enjoy this recipe...

(Please keep in mind that I took the calorie count from MFP database except the seaweed, that was from my package. I don't know how accurately these other numbers are so treat these as estimates)

My mother made this for me a lot during my postpartum and I lost some of the baby weight quite quickly. I only gained it back up when she left and I started eating unhealthy again...anyway, I made it today and actually logged the ingredients to see the numbers and no wonder I was losing, it was ridiculously low kcal!

It's quite filling since it's soup based and this is for at least 6 bowls:

Ingredient:

Shin of beef x 315 gram (shin of beef is so very cheap because no one ever buys it. It's like £0.69p a lb or something. I buy it because it's lean, it takes time to stew and it's cheap)

Dried seaweed or cut wakame: I used 17grams and that was A LOT of seaweed so you can half it if you like.

Garlic cloves x 6: No need to mince, just throw it in after you peel it.

Enough water to cover the beef and a bit more.

Method:

Use a medium size soup pot. Put beef, garlic cloves and cold water in pot. Turn it up high until boil then turn it down low heat and let it stew for about 2 hours or until beef is soft and tender.

After the beef is tender, put in the seaweed and leave for 5 minutes.

Some salt (I don't put any salt in it and let people put salt in themselves because I'm trying to control my own sodium intake)

That's it! The flavour is all natural from the beef and the seaweed and get this: One bowl = 84kcal!

Really?! My mom was making me all types of soup during postpartum, thought it was an original recipe, hahaha! Did it help you lose the baby belly?
