Kickboxing and Diet

Hi,
I'm wondering who here does kickboxing at least a couple times a week, as I'm needing to sort out my diet for training days.
If so, could you provide any of your own personal tips of what you eat during the day before you have to train, as I am feeling quite sluggish some days while at training, and can't seem to keep my energy levels up.
E.g. I train at 7pm at night, so my daily intake is pretty much complete by the time training rolls around, then protein shake afterwards.
