Hi all
I found this website http://www.theyummylife.com/recipes/229/Strawberry+Banana+Oatmeal+Smoothie with vary different recipes using oatmeal, and I decided that I would take this make ahead smoothie recipe and make one for my breakfast tomorrow.
I've used more milk than stated as I've go no juice. A bit more yoghurt than it says as I have no strawberries but had muller light strawberry yoghurt which has strawberries in it. I didn't use any chia seeds or vanilla extract (don't have any), used a one whole medium sized banana and instead of honey used a syrup called Sweet Freedom which is a syrup made from fruit sugar.
1/4 cup uncooked oats (I measured out a 1/4 cup but also weighed them to enter onto MFP, scales said I'd measured 27g)
1 cup semi-skimmed milk (approx, 250ml)
Two 175g pots of strawberry muller light yoghurt
1 medium banana
2 tbsp sweet freedom syrup
I put the milk in the blender first, followed by the oats, yoghurt, banana and added the syrup last. Then blended it all up. And that's it.
I had a little sip of it to see what it was like and it was sooo nice! Has a lovely thick consistency too! Obviously if you like your smoothies thinner then add more liquid or less oats/yoghurt.
And according to MFP this is only 455 calories!!
The ingredients made quite a lot too - pretty much two portions. I've had to divide it and put half in a thermal flask and the other half in a protein shaker so it could easily be consumed in two halves, so would be 227.5 cals per serving if you decide to have it in two portions rather than in one go.
Very much looking forward to this for my breakfast and hopefully this gives some of you some ideas too
xx
