I don't normally snack, in fact I have been trying not to lately but I am changing my meal plans around and am going to add in an afternoon snack. I'd like some ideas though to keep me going till dinner, what do you like to snack on? What high protein snacks can I keep in a drawer at work that aren't nuts?

My afternoon snacks are typically, small banana, three small dates, a few cherry tomatoes topped off with water and coffee0
-
I usually snack on fruit, peaches, bananas. or apples mainly. Sometimes I make a small salad or if I need chocolate I grab a choc mousse which is 90 cals. I usually try and make sure the snacks are less than 100 cals.0

celery with cottage cheese
celery with peanut butter
cottage cheese on oatcakes
almonds0 -
I usually snack on greek yogurt in the afternoons, or sometimes quick veggies like snow peas if I'm looking for something to eat with fewer calories.0

Dehydrated fruit?0

Do you like cheese? If you have a place to stash some string-cheese sticks, you can get a bag of them at the local supermarket.
Or try some yogurt.0 -
Like a lot of people have said, GREEK YOGURT, it's amazing I have it with half a frozen banana or some frozen blueberries
Otherwise, I sometimes snack on just plain slices of turkey breast deli meat...super yummy Or, make a few roll-ups: put a slice of turkey breast and a thin slice of tomato on a lettuce leaf and roll it up.0 -
That roll up idea sounds delicious! Must try!0

Why do you need high protein?
Here's some I like
fruit smoothies
an apple with some cinnomin cut up
kale chips
watermelon
orange slices
strawberries..
pretty much any fruit and you don't have to worry much about the calories and you'll be getting vitamins and fiber and a little protein, but I'd be more concerned about getting enough fiber in my diet than protein since most americans don't get enough0 -
Cottage cheese and pineapple, homemade trail mix(unsalted almonds.2 prices of dark chocolate and 1/4 cup dried fruit) celery and peanut butter or apples with PB. Strawberries, cherries, pears, oranges, frozen yogurt, kashi granola bars, mango, and blueberries. Not all in the same day of course!0

Apples, celery, whole grain crackers with peanut butter. Cucumbers, carrots, greek yogurt, nuts, grapes, yogurt smoothies, cottage cheese, pretzels. The ideas are unless. Just be aware of your proportions.0

I don't often snack during the day (notorious night snacker), but I usually pack a prepared snack bag of nuts (right now it's walnuts and almonds, but I mix it up all the time) and a piece of fruit in case I feel peckish at work. I work at a bakery and I'd rather not eat some of the stuff that comes out of it. I find the nuts really tide me over well and truly before dinner and the fruit is handy if I'm going out for a run straight after work. If I've done some baking, I might pack a homemade treat instead.
Some days I can leave both and eat them later that night and other days I just feel like devouring them regardless!0 -
Wouldn't say it's high protein, but I have a couple of sesameal crackers and hummus if I need a snack, depending on ow hungry I am I increase how many I have, within reason of course!0

My go to snack is dried mangoes. Low in calories but they fill me up0

An Apple or fruit of some kind
Cheese stick
beef stick
vegies
I tend to "go lookin'" about 11 for a snack of sorts. I start work at like 530 and Im outta the office at 230 most days so I dont do a normal lunch routine. I tend to have a breakfast of sorts right after I get to work because I simply cannot eat when I wake up at 2-230a.m. By 6 or so Im getting the muchies and will have one or two of the above and that constitutes breakfast.
Then around 9 or so I do a repeat. By 1130 Im investing in a lite lunch of something very similar because I can eat it while actually working without skipping a beat or making a mess. By the time 230 rolls around Im headed home. Around 4 or so the fiance' makes me a delightfully delicious salad as a prelude to a nice evening meal around 6 or so. It works for me ...this way Im getting a little something every couple hours and never get overly hungry
Good Luck0 -
egg white omelette with veggies

plain greek yogurt or cottage cheese with berries

To keep in a drawer is a challenge! I bring a half avacado in a baggie and scoop it out of its shell with a little salt and pepper very filling and holds me over0
-
i have rice cakes ( or celery) + a spread of nut butter
oatcakes + cream cheese+ sliced meat / smoked salmon.
apple + cheese or nuts
protein pancake ~( oats, cottage chess and eggs whizzed up and cooked like a pancake)and nut butter/ cream cheese/0 -
So many people are saying have a smoothie/fruit but they are high carbs/sugar not protein.
A small omelette with ham would be high protein. Also very filling and you won't need a big dinner later.0 -
I keep packets of popcorn in my draw at work. They are about 80-100cals a pack and come in all sorts of delicious flavours (not cheap though so I'm not allowed one everyday!).0

It depends on how many calories I need to burn up as evening approaches. For low cal, I like dill pickle spears or strawberries. For a little higher calorie snack I like celery with cream cheese. For a few more calories, I have a Special K breakfast bar at 90 calories. For after dinner I like sugar free popsicles (15 calories).0

My go to snack is dried mangoes. Low in calories but they fill me up
I bought this once from Trader Joes and it's high in sugar.0 -
I either eat sugar-free pudding cup (70 calories) or caramel mini rice cakes (110 calories for 13 cakes).0
