I've been losing weight quite consistently for the last 3 months at roughly a pound per week. I was at the top of healthy BMI and decided it was time to get my fit/healthy pre-kids body back. I've recently hit a bit of a plateau and feeling a bit weak, so have decided to up my calories. (I've read a lot of threads about eating more, and thought I would give it a go.)
I'm about 5'7 and 145 pounds. I would love to get down to around 135 pounds (my wedding weight), but to be honest, it is more about toning up and less about the number on the scales.
I've looked up my BMR and it is probably somewhere between in the low 1400s. I've set MFP to losing 0.5 pounds per week, which is 1480. So I think I will start there and see how I go. I might up it a bit later, but will probably do it slowly as I've been netting 1250ish for the last month. I've also set myself a rule that I'm only upping my calories if the extra food I eat is clean & healthy!
Would love to be friends with anyone else who is eating more.
I've also read a bit about lifting heavy. I'm contemplating trying it. I do a reasonable bit of strength/resistance training at bootcamp & doing advanced reformer pilates. I don't think this counts as heavy though. I have a gym in our apartment with some free weights & basic machines. I'm ok on the machines as I've been a gym member before. I'm thinking I might need to find a PT to come and do some free weights with me to get the technique right.
