I trying to lose but am not doing very well at all. I'm hoping reading about experiences and progress of others will help me get more motivated. Some days I'm hyped about losing and other days, I just want chocolate, chips and donuts

  • Hello back atcha. Hey - I want donuts and chocolate chip cookies every day of my life. You just have to choose not to buy them nor eat them. You can do this. It's a cliche' but - it really does boil down to mind over matter. Good luck!

    Hey There,

Don't look at it so much as a diet, and don't deprive yourself. You can have those things but in moderation, and some of the low fat alternatives to the cookies and other sweets you want are not that bad. Just remember, you're not in it alone and we've all been there. You can do it.

Stick with it, you can do it! Consider the possibility of a Buddy. Making changes of any kind may be facilitated by feeling accountable to another person. It is also interesting and enjoyable to spend time with a like-minded person who is also looking to grow and learn. Here are some suggested characteristics of a Buddy relationship. (Based on the book Create the Body your Soul Desires, by Wolfe and Kern)
~Help each other set and stay on track with goals
~You are not responsible for one another’s problems
~Guide one another to come up with his/her own solutions
~Don’t judge, be supportive and LISTEN!

You may decide to use the SMART goal setting principles:
    Set goal
    Make an action step
Ask your buddy (or someone else) for support
Realistic: Can you attain your goal? How sure are you – (state by percentage)
Time Specific: When will the steps be accomplished, how will you know when the goal is attained?

Break your long term goal down to short term, more measurable goals to encourage you to keep going...I love watching the ticker go down hill, ever how slowly!

    Good Luck

If you don't have sweets at home it helps alot. My favorite treat is nonfat vanilla yogart and blueberries (frozen) Enjoy    :flowerforyou:

the word die is in diet, so think of changing your eating habits in a different way. I too struggle with weight and wanting the cookies and donuts, but what I realized is that the more sweets I eat the more I want. If you have healthy choices for snacks ready to go you may not choose the wrong ones. I used to do weight watchers, and learned that I need to have a snack ready to go when I leave the house. You never know when you pass a donut shop, or bakery. Thats when the fresh fruit, or veggies can come in handy. Hang in there. I am just going to take time to learn about me and what foods I am craving and see if theres a reason why so I can learn what makes me tick and maybe then I can change my bad habits.
