Desperate...

I started my journey in January of this year. I went to the Dr and as I saw my weight on the scale I couldn't believe I was 347 lbs!!!!
I kicked out fast food and sodas right away and started eating within my calories everyday. After a few weeks I started walking and joined the gym. I even worked my way up to starting C25K. I didn't really stick to the program but did continue to jog/walk everyday. With the support of my family, friends and MFP friends of course, my ticker made it's way to the freakin' middle!!!! YES!!!!
I have never felt SO accomplished in my life... I had finally been successful at changing my body, something I thought could never happen.

So... Our June beach house weekend came and I felt great!! I didn't have the body I wanted yet of course, but the thought of being on my way to "normal" made me feel beautiful!! Went home and of course was determined to get rid of the 2 lbs I gained feeling "beautiful." I didn't.

Then... 4th of July came and I still felt ok even though I hadn't lost anything, but I knew exactly why, so I didn't worry too much bcuz I knew how to get it off...right?!? Then... I kept working trying to stay within cals, but every Friday since then I've look at the scale and wanted to cry. Nothing has come off and I've had to change my ticker back 2 lbs. "They" keep saying plateau, but I have to be honest with myself and admit that it's ME.

I have somehow completely lost my motivation.

I am SO afraid of quitting and I know that I can't. I haven't done what I set out to do yet, I haven't become a "100 lbs lost" story yet!!! I haven't gotten off of my blood pressure meds yet!! I'm not in a size that doesn't begin with a 2 yet!!

I have to find it again...I just don't know how.

If you have the answer can you uh... please let me know. Thanks!! :)

You just started a list of reasons to keep going:

    - I haven't become a "100 lbs lost" story yet!!!
    - I haven't gotten off of my blood pressure meds yet!!
    - I'm not in a size that doesn't begin with a 2 yet!!

Think of some more and stick them up around the kitchen. You can do it! And also be sure you don't have the attitude of "I haven't finished yet" You will never be finished living a healthy lifestyle - it is for life! If you are feeling deprived, figure out why and see what you can do about it. Try some new foods, take up a new exercise. We are all here for you, don't give up!

If you say it's you that's causing the plateau, what are you doing that's causing it? Your diary is closed or I was going to scan that and see if I could help out with that a bit. Sometimes after we've done this for a while we just can't keep doing the same things that we've been doing the whole time. Our bodies do adjust to what we're doing and it's just not effective anymore. I lost about 20lbs eating 1200/cal a day and just going for walks.. and then completely stopped. I easily maintained the loss but wasn't loosing anything else. When I upped my calories a bit and starting lifting weights and doing more than just walking, I started loosing again.

Not sure why my diary wasn't open. With frustration comes the desire to eat... I know that I haven't been eating the way I used to, so that's why I blame myself. I can't allow my myself to up my cals because that will trigger me to go over more. It's ugly but it's the truth.
  • I am getting ready to start the 30 day shred today. I have quite the quitter attitude. Well..more so the lazy attitude haa.. I'm trying to find the motivation as well. SO I just keep thinking it is something I HAVE to do. A requirement for life. Watching shows like Biggest Loser and Skinny vs Fat help too :) I mean, if all those people can do it, why can't we!? Answer is, we CAN. For 30 Day Shred, when you think about it..it is only 30 mins a day. 30 mins out of 1440 mins in a day. A measly fraction of time that can change your life. Or just replace that 30 mins of 30DS with another form of exercise. Still the same thing :D I don't know if I motivated you, but I certainly just motivated myself xD

Why don't you re-visit some of your previous weeks diaries where you ate well, exercised and lost and repeat them?

Take a deep breath-think of all you've done since you started!!! You're half way there and you'll find the same motivation you had before. Good luck with your new exercise class tonight, maybe that's what you'll need to get back into it the way you were before. As for the snacking/desire to eat, what if you got a ton of fruits or veggies to have? If they're there it's easier to eat than if you have junk food so even if you gave into that, it'd be better.

You're human so it's normal to hit a point where it's tough. You CAN do this and we're here to help. I'm going to send you a friend request.
  • just make yourself stick with it, once u get back in the routine of it, it will become a habit again, you can also write those things u said "not being a size that doesn't start with 2" "high blood pressure" "feeling beautiful" "do i really wanna go back to the way i was" "do i want all of my hard work to be for nothing" on post its and stick them around the house, and on any junk food that you might be tempted to eat.

Get a dry erase marker and write this across the mirror you see yourself in most often "beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but when you look in the mirror YOU are the beholder" like what you see in the mirror? if not, change it
