sugar

Yesterday I added sugar to my tracking which I didn't even realize was available. Wow I can't believe how little sugar you can have. I have one small peach and a yogurt and I'm practically done with my sugar allowable for the day! This is unbelievably difficult. I thought fruits were an important part of ones diet but it seems if you have 2 fruits then you are done with your sugars. Sadly sugar is in everything even in tomatoes so I can't have a fruit and tomato in the same day if I want to have a yogurt cause then I'll be over my sugar allowable. Seems crazy. How are people getting around this?

I don't think most limit themselves to the sugar macro. Mainly because it doesn't differentiate processed sugar from natural sugar. Have one peach yogurt from the store and it's enough to put you over. It is good for helping you pay more attention to how much sugar is in your diet. The only thing I add any sugar to now is my oatmeal.

That said I don't break my neck trying to stay under. I just keep it as close as I feel I reasonably can.

I don't even bother looking at sugar. All carbohydrates except for fiber turn to glucose (sugar) when digested anyway, so that number is far from complete when you are tracking it.

In fact, white bread will hit your blood sugar with as much or more glucose than table sugar. The starch is simply a bunch of glucose molecules chained together. Table sugar is only 50% glucose...the other 50% is fructose and has to be converted by the liver into glucose.
