Hello there,

I wanted to know if any of you out there have ever been diagnosed with or currently have Hip Bursitis? If so...

What workouts/exercise did/do you do?
If you ran, did you completely stop running?
If you ever got a steroid shot how painful was it (LOL!)?

I have had thigh/hip pain for years off and on but lately it has been terrible. Yesterday I had an MRI and this is what it came back with...hip bursitis. I was told to ease back into running and I needed to stick with walking, bike riding and other exercises where my joints aren't pounding against each other. Doctor also suggested a steroid shot in the hip so I was wondering how effective and painful that was.

Please let me know. Thanks bunches!

I do suffer from trochanteric bursitis (hip) and although I can't really help much in terms of exercise, as I have other mobility problems, I can say that the injection (for me) was painful and didn't really do much to ease the pain. I was told to keep away from impact exercise, and to swim instead...not quite gotten that far, but even lying on my side in bed hurts, so I really must get motivated to get into the water!

Sorry it's not the answer you were seeking, but I do hope your symptoms ease xx

I thought I had bursitis a couple years ago - it was just regular inflammation and I was sent to PT. It was really "fun" as in my therapist was super knowledgeable and had me do theraputic exercises and workout at the same time. There was a gym there so that was helpful. See if you can get an order for PT!

I had hip bursitis a year ago and was given a corticosteroid shot directly in my hip. The shot didn't hurt (they used freeze spray on my skin) but it was scary because the needle was huge!

If I do too much uphill walking/jogging I feel my hip getting uncomfortable and switch things up for a few weeks until it isn't bothering me anymore. It is so much better and I am glad I got the shot, but my hip aches sometimes and I feel like I have to baby it.
