Exersises for the Pool

The easiest way for me to get my exercise in is at my pool. I'm unsure of my workouts in them though. If they are really helping me very much.
Mostly I either swim in place/ do water running also some squats and leg lifts.
When the pool is not busy I am able to laps
I'm usually in the water about 40mins.
I would like to add a few other things into my work out without adding weights. I'm just kind of at a loss of what would be the best for me to add?
Any suggestions would be great.
