Best Run Tracking Websites for Garmin Forerunner users

Hi Runners,

I just got a new Garmin Forerunner 610 last week. I really like the GPS watch but I’m pretty disappointed with Garmin Connect. It's okay, but it's clunky, hard to use and the social media feeds are a joke.

I've seen a few comments on MFP about other sites and software but I've not been able to find them by searching the message board archives.

I manually loaded one of my runs into Runkeeper but double loading is a pain. They have an option to download from the Garmin but their forums say it doesn't work with the Ant+ wireless devices like the 610.

Can I get your input on what you guys are using other than Garmin Connect and/or tips on using Garmin Connect more effectively?

Thanks a lot!!

I have the Forerunner 405 and I agree - double-uploading is a pain. But I am a faithful RunKeeper fan so I do it. :)

But I did a Google search and found some things that might be helpful to you:

    Hope this helps!

    RunningAhead.com is the best.

The RunningAhead log software was sold to Runner's World, but Runner's World doesn't get the updated versions of it. The software author is very active in adding features and responding to requests. Here's a look at my log.

ETA: and I upload to it directly from my Garmin.

Check Garmin's web site for their Training Center software, i prefer it to Garmin Connect (I still use my old copy from my 305 and have several years of log files on my laptop)

You can import those logs into runningahead. You should check it out. :)

I use running ahead to plan my running schedule - I really like it for that. But I prefer endomondo or mapmyrun for actually looking at my data.

I am a social networking junky, and have managed to pick up friends on all the different platforms when trialling them, so I end up (bizarrely) uploading to runkeeper, endo and mapmyrun, as well as runningahead. The reason I can do this without getting annoyed is that each platform is actually ridiculously easy to synch with a garmin. So I guess my answer would be that each one is far superior to garmin connect.

Ultimately, I suspect preferences are down to aesthetics. Why not try each of them for a few days (as I said, it takes next to no time to use them) and then you can settle with the one you like best.

It sounds like there is a unfilled niche for a Fitness Social Networking portal that would allow you to see activity on all these sites at once and to interact with each from one interface.

I'm sure someone, somewhere, is working on that as I type... :-)

(I'm sure, though, I'm one of a very sad minority who simply has too many accounts!)

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

These were the sites that I had seen mentioned before, but couldn't find again.

I'll start giving these all a try.

    Happy Running everyone!

I may be the odd one out, but I like to look at all the details on the Garmin site, but I upload to dailymile and network with other runners there.
