^^ I agree.. I love making banana smoothies when my bananas start to ripen too fast for me to eat!0 -
In a bender combine any fruit, any yogurt, milk or juice, ice cube or two or not. Blend. Drink.
I like raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, pineapple, and banana. I use French Vanilla yogurt. Orange juice is first choice, apple juice is second. Also use pineapple juice. Most of my smoothies/shakes are made with 2% milk.
Experiment with your likes or dislikes. There is no wrong or right recipe for smoothies/shakes.
Oh, yes, add some fibre, flax seed, all bran, chia seeds, etc for extra fibre and crunchiness.0 -
My favourite smoothie:
1/2 cup banana
1/3 cup berries (raspberries, blueberries, whatever)
1/4 cup mango
2 tbsp yogurt
1/4 cup cottage cheese
1 cup field greens (YES I PUT LETTUCE IN MY SMOOTHIES!)
1-2 cups of water to get smoothie to desired consistency
blend it all together- the cottage cheese will blend down to the same size as the berry seeds and you can't taste it, and the lettuce breaks down so much you don't know it's there. You get protein, calcium, natural sugar and fibre.
It sounds weird but when I "test" it on my friends without telling them the cottage cheese/lettuce part up front, they say they taste great and would never guess it's got some of the ingredients that it does0 -
^^ to the above poster, try spinach or kale instead of just lettuce, it will be even more nutritious. I love green smoothies!0

1/2 scoop protien powder ( chocolate or strawberry is great)
hand full frozen strawberries
hand full frozen cherries
8 oz milk
blend it well it tastes great0 -
can you taste the greens? is it still good?0

low-carb hi-fat KETO smoothie/ morning iced COFFEE shake yum
1 cup almond milk
2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
1/2 scoop choc protein powder
pinch cinnamon
couple drops vanilla
6 macadamia nuts
7 ice cubes0 -
I use almond milk and whatever fruit I have in the freezer.0
-
.5 cup whole milk
.5 cup plain greek yogurt
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 cup cooked oatmeal
2 tbsp ground flaxseed
I then add 1 tbsp of agave or honey if I've worked out that morning.0 -
Add oatmeal, sunflower seeds, or. It's to your favorite fruit smoothie recipe for some added protein and fiber. NYTimes had a great set of recipes in their cooking section:

The Green Goddess
2 cups of raw spinach purified first in blender or processor
1/2 of a cucumber
1 container of plain greek yogurt
1 scoop of vanilla whey protein powder
5 chunks of cantalopue and 5 chunks of pineapple or mango
Tropical fruit tastes best
ice cubes
a little mint extract
Optional: a scoop of flax meal
it really gives you energy before a workout
It sounds gross but you do not taste the spinach at all. Add more fruit for additional sweetness0 -
The smoothie I am drinking right now: 3 ice cubes, 1/4 cup sliced strawberries, 1/4 large banana, 1/4 cup plain non-fat yogurt, 1 scoop vanilla cream protein powder (made one for my daughter without the protein powder). It's delicious. You can see the nutritional info in my diary. I also really like blueberry smoothies. Enjoy!0

I can't taste them- but I also stick to those ratios so that I have much more fruit than lettuce/greens.
My friends can't tell when I get them to test it out0 -
i love every recipe in theory, ill try them as soon as possible!
thank you all!0
