Working out and rest days

Hey there, I have a question, I started working out about a month ago, doing M, W, F as my routine.
On my workout days I also do around 30 min of cardio, then my full body workout.
Is it counter productive to be working out 5 days a week?
I was thinking it would be, and was just going to do this kind of routine starting with Monday:
1.Workout + Cardio
2. Cardio
3. Workout + Cardio
4. Cardio,
5. Workout + Cardio.
Im working out for weight loss, aiming to get to around 220lb, around 268 at the moment. Working out to maintain my muscle as I lose, so is it a bad idea to weight lift 5 days a week? Are the people who are doing that, not making any real progress?
Thank you.

I lift 6 days a week.
Occasionally I will take a full weekend to rest. Like this weekend. But instead of working out, I will be at the beach doing all sorts of stuff with the family!0 -
If you're lifting like you should be, you wont be able to do it more than 3x a week. When it comes to weights, the sessions should be short, intense and heavy. Not more than 10 sets.
Lifting with intensity will have a greater impact on calorie afterburn than cardio because your body is under constant repair. This increases BMR, and so will the muscle you build as a result.
You dont need to be in they gym 5x a week to get great results. Its quality not quantity. The intensity of the exercises is what burns fat most effectively.0 -
you should be fine as long as your body is getting adequate rest to repair and build muscle. Some days can be more intense than others. just listen to your body.0

^Exactly. I don't have a body like that, but I have done some intense sessions. By intense, I mean my body is trembling when I am almost finished. Those last two or three reps nearly kill you. You won't want to do it two days in a row. Hell, you won't even want to get out of bed the next day.0 -
Awesome, thanks.0

NOOOOOO its not counterproductive thats like saying is eating everyday counterproductive to my life uhmmm NO!0

My motto is if it works for you, use it. Kill it!0

Disagree, workout like that. Look at diets that will allow you to recover. With my high protein diet I'm never sore for more than a day. Even though I push myself harder than most people do.0
