Weight stall - help!!

Hi
I know I'm not the first, but it's zapping my motivation a bit even so, but pls. confirm that it is "normal" that I lost 7 pounds in the first 3 weeks (which I am very pleased with and not complaining about in any shape or form, NPI), but then it became "TOM" and it all stalled... I know that TOM can stop the loss for a while or even make your weight go up due to fluid retention, but I don't think I suffer overly from bloating. The scales are still stalled today and have either stuck or I'm doing something incredibly wrong?
I walk a minimum of 1-1½ hrs a day "brisk pace, 4 MPH" as I can bring my dog for that and fit it in with my long working days etc. and I come in under my calorie goal (and eat some of the points back and am reluctant not to do so as I do believe, that if you burn, you need to fuel your body - with healthy things obviously, but still).Compared to my pre-MFP diet, I skip pasta, potatoes, bread - all the "white carbs", but do have the occassional brown rice or wholemeal pitta or bread. I don't have chocolate, sweets, crisps, "two dinners", etc. etc. and have REALLY cut back on the amounts I eat (which was ridiculous before).
I do the occassional run (am only just getting into shape) and cycle etc. I walk everywhere and don't cheat on tracking my food etc. If anything, I err on the side of caution and key in a bit more than I may have actually had. I drink PLENTY of water - cold, sparkling, still, with lemon etc. etc. etc.
I know I probably should not panic and my significant other IS saying that he can see differences in my legs and torso shape and that things are looking more defined (I do think my legs are firmer and my belly a lot flatter) and that it's all good, but I need some motivation here to give me a boost, alternatively a kick up the backside !!, and keep me going. Am weighing in again on Friday and steeling myself for another stall...

It takes a few months to learn your body's natural monthly cycle. How chasing the cotton mouse has a predictable pattern that doesnt count as a real weight gain.
After 5 years of doing this, I know there are two days a month where I will have a mysterious 8 pound gain. I dont panic anymore. It doesnt mean im doing something wrong. I also know it will be followed by an 8.8 pound loss.
Stop worrying so much about staring at the measure of gravitational pull of your body in that square digital readout between your toes and start paying more attention to building a relationship with you body.

I agree with the post above. If you like your current diet and exercise plan, I would stick with it for a few more weeks. Personally, because my weight fluctuates so much during the day, week, and especially month, I usually can't be sure I'm doing something right until I've tracked it for six to eight weeks. I weigh myself every day and then look at the graph, and make sure I'm not about to have a lovely seven pound monthly spike in weight before I judge my current weight.
Sounds like you're doing well so far, so keep it up!0 -
