I'm new. Started myfitnesspal last Friday after my doctor said I needed to loose the 25 lbs I've gained over the past 4 years in the next 4 months. Menopause is a spiteful witch!!! I'd appreciate support from those in the same position as I am!! Where did this belly come from!!!

My partner thinks I'm crazy when I blame Peri-menopause for things like weight-gain, sleeplessness, always feeling hot...She'll see what I mean when her turn comes along.

Yep....that's my problem....the belly. I always had a tiny waist. And I used to complain because I could never get pants to fit me in the waist because of my big hips. Well its not a problem anymore, unfortunately. But the belly IS going down....so have faith. It will happen for YOU too! :)

OH I hear you!! Extra weight that seems to want to stay with me, hot flashes, night sweats, trouble sleeping, mood swings ..... and the list goes on and on!

I refuse to let the insane hormones have control, so I will win the war...it may take time but I will get there.

peri menopause is where I am right now too. I never lost my belly after the kids but it is even harder now to keep it under control. It is shrinking very slightly so I am encouraged. Anyone who needs encouragement, please feel free to add me.

Hi Ladies! I just joined and seemed to have found some like-minded women. I am pre or peri menopause, and have that belly that I can't seem to get rid of. But that area has always been my problem area, even all the years I ran around wearing size 6. So I am in trouble!

I hear you ladies. I'm stuck in my 7th years of menopause and can not believe how much weight I gained!!!! Who's body is this anyway??? I eat well (I'm a nutritionist for God's sake), exercise but nothing works. I will say up until I was 45 I was working out about two hours 5 days a week. Then I had an injury which prevents me from working out that hard (more walking and weight training now) and my body just went to pieces. Trying to accept was is. Love the support here.

My menopause issues started the month before I turned 39. I had to go on hormones, no choice.

I will be 43 next month. I stopped taking the hormones a few months ago because after the last switch I was gaining weight very fast. I have also eaten pretty good. I actually like vegetables and fruit. I have never been a binger or lived off sweets. After my problems started I quickly became anemic and started eating meat again. I think I really went wrong with that one.

Anyway, I'm finding the weight is coming off without too much trouble. I like this site because it helps to track the fats and sugar. I have only made small changes and am trying to eat more vegetables. I rarely eat any red meat and don't have much dairy, just greek yogurt and cheese and have cut those down. In fact I think I will drop the yogurt and just eat a little cheese. Just had some earlier. lol.

My situation has really made me look at food in a different way. I have been paying attention to my body and noticing what happens when I eat certain foods, mainly those with hormones such as meat. It has made a real difference.

It is recommended menopausal women eat low fat, low sodium, lots of vegetables and to watch meat consumption. This is how everyone should eat! It seems as if we have problems our moms and grandmothers didn't have. I believe a lot of it is food related. Especially women close to my age. I feel like our generation is showing the effects of all this convenience food. I have talked with my dr, more than one, about it all and they feel the same way.

I feel better off the hormones now and I'm waiting to see if I'm done with the whole menopause thing. I've always had to watch myself, if I started feeling weight gain I would be careful for a few days. But out of nowhere I just got fat.

How I eat may not work for everyone and may not even be good for everyone, but every week I try to add something new in or replace something. I am trying to simplify. I love this site because if I start to feel bad or have problems I can back and look at my food for the last week and see if some changes help. I don't plan on cutting out a bunch of stuff. I had ice cream last night but don't have it very often. My main concern is controlling the fat and sugar and hormones going into my body.

I have heard so many older women talk about hot flashes and moodiness, but they didn't have the problems we all are having. I'm talking about women 75 or older. Maybe it's because they grew up eating from the garden and not consuming all the crap we are
