I just did 30 minutes on my recumbent bike on a light effort and the bike says calories lost is 162 but when I go to put it in to my diary it says 298, I don't know which one to believe.

My guess is that they are both over-estimating. At least that's what I found once I got an HRM--most machines and websites overestimate.
I would go with the lower one.0 -
Go with the lower number, MFP has a tendency to overestimate calories burned.0
