I have been doing some research on the south beach diet. I am diabetic and through the research that I have done it seams that it may work out for me but my question is how do I get my full calorie intake that I need without doing into a deficit? Another question is I have been snaking on fruits what should I switch to instead. So far I have been doing great eating right and lost 6 pounds in the past month should I even change or stick with what I have been doing.

Its not necessary to count calories on the south beach diet. The first phase makes it very difficult to do so. Its easier in the 2nd and 3rd phases.
For snacks you can have celery, sliced peppers and hummus, greek yogurt, 30 pistacios, 15 almonds or cashews, cottage cheese, tomatoes, cheese sticks,.....
there are tons of recipes for snacks too...like turkey roll ups...yummo!.
Honestly, the south beach diet has tons of foods you can eat and so many delicious recipes. Its not quite as restrictive as it seems.
Check out the South Beach Diet cookbook. I make those recipes all the time, they are so good. Anytime I cooked south beach friendly food for friends or family, noone ever even knew they were eating so called diet food.
Enjoy!0
