They are inspiring! I was so loving the game tonight.
The announcer said one of the women was 6'1". And 165 lbs. They looked incredible to me.
My husband, who is very slim, said "isn't that really big (meaning fat)". I said look at them, they are pure muscle. He just shrugged.

This is personal for me because I'm 5'10 and just hit 169 lbs. if he thinks those volleyball players are big...well I know he thinks I'm "big". He doesn't know my weight and probably never will. I'm a work in progress...hence why I am here.

I'm just curious. Are most people shocked by how much a tall woman who looks slim actually weighs?

Hi...I know this is an old topic, but I just joined today. So hopping in here.

I am also 5'10" and was an athlete all my life - volleyball was my best sport. The numbers can be deceptive. I played at about 180 pounds in high school/club. I didn't play in college, but had some scholarship offers. Looking at pictues of myself from that period, I was not fat. Not as thin as some teammates, but my stomach was flat and I had a lot of muscle. My leanest was 175 at 19% bodyfat about 10 years ago (at 32). I had muscle definition in my arms and I was in really good shape. I'm trying to get back to somewhere close to that (from my current 220...ouch!).

Unless you know somebody's body composition, you have no idea what they would weigh.

Olympic and college volleyball players are very strong. There are players in the 6'2" 190 range who look strong but fit. Not fat at all. Same is true with basketball players, track athletes, etc.

I hate programs that prescribe what weight you should have as your goal (like WW).
