New runners? Old runners? Runners?

I used to HATE running. And one day I decided I was going to be a runner, I just ran for the first time ever -- a mile! And today, for the first time ever, I ran over a mile! Have you always been a runner or did one day you decide you wanted to be? Have you done any races/marathons?

I've always been a runner, but it was recently that I started racing and doing long distance runs, I love a cool breeze as I run, and just listening to music during my runs too0

I used to run and I'm pretty sure I was a walker. Then I did an outward bound course and ran a half marathon (it was actually 2km longer) and my goal was to run the whole way and I did. Ever since then I can run as far as I want. I can't run as fast as I want though, and if I'm unfit I go really slowly, but I can run without out walking. I do think that a huge amount of being able to do it is the belief that you can do it. Also not being ashamed to run really, REALLY slowly at times, when normally I would have started walking.0

I didn't have any thoughts one way or the other about being a runner. It just sort of happened and I found out I was decent at it. I've since done tons of races from the 5k to 50 milers.0

I used to hate running, and at times i still do, but now i get testy when i don't get to run too...
i started c25k end of february, now doing 5-8k runs every other day, well, unless its way too hot an humid and/or thunderstormy outside (did that once, but when the lightning is close enough that i can't count to 3 before the thunder hits, i start getting a bit tense)

Relatively new runner...trail runner actually.
But, I loooove it! The woods have become my gym.0 -
I ran cross country and track in high school, got away from it in college and a few years after college. Started again a few years ago and I love it. I feel better after a run than any other time. A lot of my friends have done the Couch 2 5k program and love it. Good luck! Get some great running shoes! I love my Sauchonys0

I want to start running. I am currently a newbie down the gym and I do 30-40 minutes of interval training on the treadmill. I walk initially to warm up and then I run for as long as I can and then I take it back down to a walk until I recover and then take it back up again.
I am hoping this method will get me fit enough to run for longer and I hope to enter a 5k run at sometime0 -
i hated running at school. Friday afternoons after class was cross country! winter was cold wet and muddy and summer was not so bad but no one taught us how to run distance the just expected us to do it! and i couldn't i was always late for dinner because i trudged along ( normally cold wet and miserable!)
but last summer I did a C25K like program and managed to get over that initial OMG i'm moving and it hurts and i can't breath and began to enjoy running! and by October i was regularly running 5 miles to work!
unfortunately i then badly broke my hand and couldn't run ( one fall = reconstructive surgery)
but now i am starting again and remembering why i enjoyed it .
did my first run last weekend and managed 2 miles in25 mins - not the greatest pace but i got moving!
very pleased.0
