Net Calories

I'm currently at 243 pounds, and therefore burn quite a few calories with exercise. My daily calorie goal is at 1450 to lose 2 pounds per week. If I exercise for about an hour, I can burn close to 1,000 calories, but I could never eat those all back unless I ate pizza and ice cream all the time! Sometimes my net calories are in the negatives, if I exercise a lot...more often, it is between 200 and 800 net calories. How concerned should I really be if I am eating at LEAST 1300 calories per day, usually closer to 1700 or 1800? I don't want to pig out because I am trying to learn what eating fewer calories looks like...I don't want to track my food for the rest of my life!

I like this calculator for determining calorie needs. Try setting your MFP goal to whatever the sedentary number is and eat back about half of your exercise.0 -
I actually just read through another topic like this, and the best thing I saw was that it is important to NET at least 1,200. So you eat 1,450 calories, then burn 1,000 you NETTED 450.
So you should eat at least 750 more to net 1,200... if I did the math right.0 -
If you really have 100+ lbs to lose your body has plenty to work with right now. It will become more crucial as you get leaner. Just focus on protein intake to maintain what lean body mass you currently have and you'll be fine.0

Why not? It's not that hard and it will help you maintain.0 -
try not to worry about the numbers. the most important thing, honestly is figuring out your lifestyle and problems. Eat HEALTHY, EXCERSICE Daily. and try to figure out how you got to 243 lbs in the first place...because no matter the weight, you are still you. It is easy to diet, hard to maintain. Once you get to your goal, then WHAT? you are still you......
just think about that. this is coming from a girl that went from a size 6 to a size 00 (145lbs to 112lbs) and have been having a tough time maintaining....because i realized the real problem wasn't food it was my unhealthy lifestyle.0 -

That's what I plan on doing.
And kudos on the weight loss!! *blinks*0
