Pounds or Inches?

So I fell off the work out horse...like way off like I haven't worked out in 3 months and gained 3 pounds! I am ready to stop giving excuses about why I have not time to work out and just do it. I have a goal in mind of 15 pounds by Christmas, but I also know pounds don't mean much to me Its more about how I feel and fitting in my clothes so I thought about setting my goal from a 44inch waist to have a 34 inch waist by Christmas. IS 10 inches harder to get down then 15 pounds? Or do you think they will come hand in hand? I guess I am just curious what other people look at pounds or inches?

I can only speak for myself, but in my experience, inches count for more. I could lose pounds so much quicker, but by lifting weights and losing inches, I look better at my current weight than I did at 20lbs less. Weight can account for water, glycogen, etc, and may not reflect you actually looking better. Losing inches on the other hand, will certainly make you look better. Focus on inches, in my opinion. Weight can be totally arbitrary.

Inches. It's what you (and others) can see and feel. That and body fat %. The scale can do funny things...

Inches are hard, so are pounds. You never know where you they are going to come off from first.

Thanks Everyone! I think I may just focus on inches right now I know before when I had lost 7 I felts so proud but nothing looked all that different but when I started to work out harder I felt more confident as I saw things flatten and tone.

I think it's a good idea to focus on size rather than weight. 10 inches is quite a lot. It's probably different for everyone, but just as an example, I have lost 7 inches on my waist, with losing about 40 lbs. I carry most of my weight around my middle though. If you are more pear shaped, or hour-glass shaped, and tend to lose it from your waist more easily, then you could probably lose more inches with less weight, if that makes sense! The closer you are to your goal, the less weight you'll have to lose to see visible progress.

Goals are really great to keep you focused, but try not to get too hung up on a number - either inches or pounds. Just get back on the wagon, put the effort in and I'm sure you'll look great by Christmas, whatever the actual measurement is. You'll definitely look a lot better than if you don't try!
