Question for those that have lost 100+

Can some of you that have already lost large numbers tell me how long it took before you could visibly see the results with your clothes on?

As of this morning, I have officially lost 50 lbs since I started this journey in April. So, I am pretty proud of myself.

However, other than my closest friends, my children, and my mfp family, no one really knows what I am accomplishing. why? Because I look the same! I have a little less belly, a little less thunder thigh, a little less booty, etc. I have lost one of my double chins! (Score!) But, seriously, it is somewhat discouraging to know that the results are only in the numbers, and not necessarily visible to everyone else. Once the clothes come on, I look the same. I want to HAVE to buy new clothes because I have lost weight. LOL

    I haven't lost 100 pounds (or 50 congratulations!)

But I bet they notice. I have three sisters who need to lose that much (much more actually). When one of them lost just 30 pounds you could so see it in her face and arms. It wasn't an obvious jawdropping change. But the rest of us would say (behind her back) wow she looks great. I hear she's losing weight.

We would say something too, but didn't want to say much because weight is a touchy topic.

Why not splurge in a blouse or two that shows off a little of the weight loss? I see in your pictures you have a very flowery dress on. That will disguise you weight, but also your weight loss. Buy a nice blouse in a dark, solid color. I'll bet it makes you look slimmer. And it will make you feel good.

I have been the same dress and pants size since I was an adult and my weight has fluctuated 40 pounds. But trust me, I look better in them when I'm smaller.

It depends on how you hold the weight, for me to actually realize how much weight I had lost it was about 80 lbs into it. Other people noticed, but my visualization took a while to catch up. Depends on the person and where the weight falls on your body. Congrats on your accomplishment and keep up the good work!!

I agree - people probably do notice but they are shy to say anything. I also agree that you should treat yourself to a few new wardrobe pieces that flatter your new figure. You will look great and feel great too!

I have lost 81lbs and the first 25-50lbs I noticed a difference. I do understand how to us we can look the same, maybe a little change but not a lot. When I look in the mirror now weighing at 185lbs, I still see myself as 266lbs. It's a mental game. Congrats on the 50lb loss!!!!!

Thanks everybody! I can definitely notice the difference when I am running around the house in some shorts & tank, but in my day to day work clothes (black pants, blouse, jacket, etc) everything looks the same. Maybe a new blouse is in order! As someone else posted, I have lost around the thighs (walking has helped I am sure) but no change on the waist measurements. My son insists it is tiime to start hitting the gym resistance training, but I have been waiting for all this extra energy everyone said I would feel.

People really started to notice when I had lost around 40-50 pounds. A lot of that has to do with the fact that I finally bought smaller clothes that fit better instead of trying to hide in oversized things that did absolutley nothing for my figure. Now, I get comments all the time about me being skinny and that I'm going to waste away to nothing, which is funny because I still have another almost 50 pounds to lose.
