"Girls are suppose to always look nice and put together "
I don't mean for this to be offensive in any way. Everyone has the right to their opinions, and well, if it works for her, and it does, then right on and more power to ya.
I just read a post in which the lady posting made this statement. the full statement was "Not me!! I hate getting sweaty!! Girls are suppose to always look nice and put together "
It was about a lady being rude to her at the gym, and while I agree that it's no ones business what you do at the gym, I can't agree with girls always having to look nice, espically at the gym. At the gym, you'r e usualy there for a hard workout, and for me, getting sweaty to the point of my clothes sticking to me and my hair wet was proof that I was doing something right. That I earned the burned calories, that I pushed as hard as I could.
I agree that we, men and women, should all look our best when at work or, ya know going out on a nice date, but at the gym? In my opinion, it's to hell with nice hair and make up, bring on the sweat.
What's your opinion? Are "Girls are suppose to always look nice and put together" Or have we earned the right to sweat at the gym?

It depends on the girl. Do you!
As for me, put together 95% of the time. I'm high maintenance.0 -
I already wrote how I feel.

I would prefer that most people look put together most of the time. This goes for guys and girls. We have a very sloppy standard in society currently. I hate going out and seeing people who look like they haven't bothered to shower or put on clean clothes. I always get complimented on the way I am dressed, and it is mainly because I take just a little bit of pride in my appearance be to clean and neat.
That being said, places like the gym are meant to be getting all sweaty. Do I think you need to be dolled up to be there, hell no. But wearing clean clothes and having good hygiene is always a plus.0 -

You prefer that other people look put together? While I understand what you mean...I think the other people should do what they feel like doing and if you don't like it then oh well. You take care of yourself and all the sloppy people can look at how well put together you are.0 -

I see nothing wrong with a sweaty lady....even better if I am making her sweat...0
-
I don't care how anyone else looks. I, however, am a hot mess at the gym. Totally on purpose because I don't want anyone talking to me...I am there to sweat, not have social hour.0

if i remember correctly she wanted to be nice looking because she was working out before going out for the evening and didn't want to sweat all her make up off...
she wasn't saying she wouldn't sweat it off another time...
but honestly, it's her life, her make up, her body, her choice...
how hard or not hard another person works at the gym has no bearing on you...or me...or anyone else...
she wants to be presentable as per her idea of what that means? go for it...as long as she doesn't ask ME to.0 -

she starts out saying shes doing 3 mph so she doesn't mess up her hair or make up. but, like i siad, if it works for her, then awesome. but lumping all women in by saying "girls should always look good" do you agree that you shouldnt sweat at the gym to in order to always look good, or that you're at the gym, you're gonna sweat. all i'm asking0 -
I do the makeup and hair thing probably 80% of the time. When I'm playing tennis (2-5x a week) or going to the gym (5-7x a week) not so much. Yeah, I'll almost always have my black eye liner on, but my hair is up in a pony tail, and I'm not really worried about the sweat and red face - For goodness sakes I'm working out / playing a sport (and beating everyone I play while I'm at it)!!! If I worries about my hair/make up/sweat I wouldn't be able to get the results I was looking for.0

I do take care of myself, and if people within my groups of friends or general social group don't, I don't invite them out if it something I am planning. Now if it someone who used to and no longer does I will try to find out whats wrong, but in general I just will not be friends with dirty people. I have had friends of friends show up to a group dinner with extremely stringy greasy hair or stained/dirty clothes. I generally will try not to sit by these people. I was raised to care about my appearance and it totally baffles me when other people do not care about theirs.0 -
Honestly, I don't pay attention to how someone else looks at the gym. I know I'm a freaking sweaty mess and I do think it's gross. But if a girl still looks put together after her workout then more power to her. I wish I could get a good workout and still look put together lol
If I put make up on for the gym it would drip down my face and smear all over my body. But if she can do it, why not?!0 -

I LOVE THE GIRLS' SWEAT!!!!!!!Q!0

If I go to the gym and don't come out looking like a sweaty ratty mess, I clearly was wasting my time. I don't go to workout lightly to keep my make up all pretty and little up do all tidy while doing bicep curls with 2 lb weights and doing slow mo cardio. I'm there to get it done.0

I definitely disagree with the "suppose" instead of the correct, "supposed".
As far as looks go, who cares? I'm a SAHM and full time student. I go to school in yoga pants, a t-shirt, and running shoes. I almost never wear makeup, my hair usually in a messy bun. I've got other things to worry about. When I used to go to the gym, I didn't give a crap whether or not other people thought I was attractive. I was there to work, not socialize.0 -

MAN'S PERSPECTIVE:
I LOVE a girl in yoga pants, pony tail and a hoodie. HOWEVER, I also like it when she can look stunning in a dress, rock some jeans. Diversity is good!

No I agree with you, but the OP in People are so RUDE was saying she was walking slow because she didn't want to mess her hair up for a date with her husband. I don't think she really thinks that girls aren't supposed to sweat.0 -

I wasn't asking "do you?" I was saying "Do you!" like.. be yourself.. hehehe too funny.0 -
I very rarely look "put together". It makes the moments when I do get myself all put-together really stand out as something special. Otherwise, if I looked put-together all the time, I would never have stand-out moments. That's just the way I see it. Besides which, I enjoy wearing more casual clothes, they're much more comfy to me. I also enjoy working up a good sweat and would prefer for people to view me as a tough chick than a girly girl.0

hah.
Well, sweating is a human function. It's only society's issues that have defined it as "gross". So, maybe if we can get over that, we'll be better off.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to turn off my body's sweat glands. And while people have the right to look however they wish, I find it odd that some people hold the opinion that "eww! women are human and sweat? that's nasty" ....
I guess that's what deodorant is for.0 -
