Coke Zero? WTF is in that thing?

I believe Coke zero uses sucralose (splenda), while diet coke uses aspartame
Not in the UK, though composition does vary with territory.
From memory zero has more sweetener in it, but the same sweetener as diet coke. It's a marketing thing as apparently some young males think "diet" means it's for girls. Hence Pepsi Max with Beckham adverts.0 -
Zero is really not zero.
As some other posts have remarked, if the amount per serving is below a given number, they get to list it as zero.
A lot of people are really worked up about aspartame and splenda, etc. Table sugar is so benign it causes Type 2 Diabetes, but hey, it's a natural product right? Much better for you than the "artificial" stuff. Fact is you can use sugar to cure meat, ever hear of sugar cured ham? Anything in excess will probably harm you. If you keep the coke zero jones to reasonable levels you are probably going to be better off than if you drink a regular coke or other sugary drink.
Well, they tell diabetics to use the artificial stuff, so it obviously isn't as bad as what people make out, however my point was simply that I did notice myself eating less after stopping all forms of fizzy drink. I didn't decide one day to not to drink fizzy drinks. It just sort of happened0 -
What's in it? Delicious guilt-free goodness. Drink up! :drinker:0

Cherry Coke Zero FTW! :drinker:0

Coca-Cola Zero provides real Coca-Cola taste for variety-seeking consumers. Coca-Cola Zero is sweetened with a blend of low-calorie sweeteners, while Diet Coke is sweetened with aspartame. As for Coke/Coca-Cola light, in certain countries, the term "diet" is not used to describe low-calorie foods and beverages. In these countries, we offer Coke/Coca-Cola light. The sweetener blend used for Coke/Coca-Cola light is formulated for each country based on consumer preference.0

I don't know what yours has in it, but mine usually has a taste of Captain Morgan.
It's the closest thing to regular old Coke that I've found.
ditto!!0 -
does anyone have any informed knowledge about what's actually in coke zero?
I'm sure the label on the back of the can will tell you exactly what's in it. Try reading it?
A string of chemical names isn't overly informative. Some products intentionally use formal terminology to gloss over products that mightn't be popular. But thank you for trying.0 -

^^ haha....mine usually has some jack daniels, or whipped vodka.
Love!!! I also encourage "Cabin Fever" with it, yummy!!0 -
Nm stupid tablet
Stop giving it Coke Zero!0 -
Nothing that is good for you. Even regular Coke's ingredients are not that great but if you must have soda go for regular Coke.0

Coke Zero is my goto drink. I was a diet coke fan, then it started making me sick, I switched to regular Coke which is soooo yummy, but wanted rid of the calories. I switched to coke zero and it makes me happy. I don't get sick from it like I was from diet coke. BUT I only let myself drink it after I get at least 48 oz of water in first - I consider it my reward before I drink the rest of my water for the day. I don't drink enough of it to be worried about whatever chemicals are in it.0

^ I Totally agree with you on this ^0

Don't know what's in it but it makes me nauseated and I get a headache. Can't be good for me
I have the same reaction to any drinks made with sucralose or acesulfame.
According to www.thecoca-colacompany.com, the ingredients in Coke zero are:
Carbonated Water, Caramel Color, Phosphoric Acid, Aspartame, Potassium Benzoate (to protect taste), Natural Flavors, Potassium Citrate, Acesulfame Potassium, Caffeine
EDIT: That's the US version. Ingredients vary by country.0 -
I'm also marginally perplexed by MFP's database listing for it: A 600ml bottle has 2 calories and 1 carb?? Whut?

The OP above has you boggled about MFP's database listing for it, indicating that you are not sure how many calories or carbs it actually has in it. Also stating that you don't care about chemicals in the first place. So I took that to mean that you wanted to verify that 2 calories and 1 carb is actually what it contains. Reading the label will tell you that.
So would going to Coke's website and looking it up there as someone above did. Instead of trusting strangers on a forum to tell you, you could have found out yourself. Then gone the extra step and googled those ingredients.
But that's just my take on it.0 -

Mine normally has a taste of captain morgan as well, specifically captain morgan private stock.
I heard coke zero has alot more caffiene then normal/diet coke.0 -
Note- food manufacturers (or drink) are allowed a margin of error I believe up or down 5 calories(which is why most pickles say zero calories and most artificial sweeteners as well) they use it to there advantage as expected. so if the serving size has less that 5 calories they can claim zero(pretty sure it's 5, but not 100%)0

I don't know what's in it, but I wish I liked it. Coke was the one thing I've always loved to drink, and when I tried to avoid it, I found myself drinking Mountain Dew. Not really an improvement! Coke Zero has a very unappealing taste to me, as does anything diet.0
