I would like some general advice about carb, fat and protein limits for weight loss. I am 41 years old and weigh 73 kilo. I have dieted most of my life and struggle with weight loss. I am currently trying to follow the low carb method of weight loss but it still appears to be not going as well as I thought from the information I have read and I am getting a bit confused!.

Can you change your diary to "public" so that we can give some advice on what you're eating?
How many carbs a day are you aiming for/ How tall are you? And how long have you been following a low-carb approach?0 -
I have now changed my setting so you should be able to view my food diary. I am 5ft 3 and have been following this approach for about 3 weeks approx. Thanks Michelle0

I would track your sodium as well...cos you really are not eating a lot. How much weight do you have to lose and how much exercise are you doing? Some days I noticed you come under 1200 cals.0

I notice that you tend to have high levels of fat each day, often more than proteins. You could customize your goals to better track what you are eating. I use a 35-30-35 ratio for carbs - fats - proteins and eat 1300 cal a day. Perhaps some lean meat choices to lower fats might help out as well.0

I was attempting to eat more fat to try to get my body into ketosis but this did not appear to be working as I have not lost much weight. Not sure where I am going wrong?0

Are you using anything as a guide of what to eat? Atkins?0

have you checked if going into ketosis? Some need to do 20g carb to get into ketosis. With a low carb approach you usually lose lots of water weight - did you get that in the 3 weeks you've been doing it?0

not really following anything as such other than an increase in fats and trying to limit carbohydrates to less than 50g.I have been ready neris and indias from pig to twig book and some books by Gary Taubes and The Primal Blueprint which I have only glanced at so far and not read. I have not really loss any significant weight and the ketosis urine sticks my husband bought were negative when I used then0

After skimming a few days of your diary, I would say drop the pastries, tarts, biscuits and whole milk from your diet. And maybe the mixed nuts and dark chocolate for awhile too. Try following one of the many low carb plans for awhile to get yourself going. Foods where the main ingredients are carb based (ie sugar and flour) are not going to help you if you're trying to diet low carb.
Until you either get really strict (as far as carb intake) or take the time to find a plan you like and follow it, you'll just be spinning your wheels and become frustrated.0 -
Thanks I'll give that a try!0
