Should I eat before I work out? Didn't know if it was better to work out first and then eat breakfast or eat breakfast first. I noticed that if I eat and then workout that not long after I work out I am hungry again! Anyone else deal with this?

Yes, you kicked up your metabolism....that's a good thing......

I actually work out harder if I eat and let my food sit a bit before working out.....some of my DVD's actually say that your muscles need the fuel so it is important to eat...

But since you want to eat every 2-3 hours it is ok to be hungry after you work out....just make sure you eat a good healthy snack afterwards.

If it's breakfast, I like to work out first. I've also heard that working out before breakfast speeds up weight loss, although can't remember the source and not sure if it's true.

Don't always feel like eating as soon as I've woken up, so not eating until an hour or so later works for me.

    Doing a double reply here.

I would base this entirely on your personal preference. Consider how you feel and how you perform in the gym. Consider how it effects your ability to eat correctly for the rest of the day.

    As for the next reply:

If you're referring to breakfast, that's actually a myth that hasn't died yet. Diet Induced Thermogenesis is not frequency based.

You can actually structure your meals in any way you'd like provided that you're able to train with intensity and you're able to successfully hit your calorie and macronutrient intake by end of day. While there's nothing wrong with eating every 2 to 3 hours, some people have great success eating only 2 meals per day/etc. Both methods are fine, but as a point of clarity, there's no metabolic advantage to eating with a specific frequency.

It's a personal preference thing. I feel better after I get some fuel in the tank. Others feel better on an empty stomach, and even feel nauseous exercising after eating.

There are pros and cons of both. Cardio before breakfast is something body builders tend to promote....I personally train before breakfast a lot. But you should never strength train without any fuel in your body :)
