So today was my day 2 of level 2 of the 30 day shred. All of level 1 I felt tired after the workout, but still able to be up walking around and doing things. Yesterday and today after the workout, I feel absolutely beat. I feel like I could fall asleep immediately after the workout, and my legs and arms feel weak. I always eat breakfast before my workout so that I have somehting to run on. I didn't even feel this bad after the first day of working out in years. idk why I fel this way. Is it because level 2 is just harder....I will admit to not having taken a rest day since I started this whole thing on the 31st, reason being it is the only workout I am doing, period. So I feel like I can't afford a rest day. I am munching on peanut butter as I type to get protein in me. Just wondering if anyone has insight as to this sudden weakness feeling. thanks!!

IMO, you need to take a rest day here and there. Jillian never intended it to be done in 30 days straight. Level 2 is harder and Level 3 is even more difficult. Take a day off and allow your muscles to recover! You'll be ok even if this is all you are doing! Or even just take a walk on the days off so you'll still feel like you're doing something!

    Good luck!

yeah I think I need one. As much as I don't like the idea of it, I will rest tomorrow. :) I have worked out for 13days straight, now, from zero to 60 in less than 2 weeks, my body must be telling me something.

Absolutely -- rest days are _vital_ to building the muscles that you're ripping up on exercise days. They really aren't "rest" days, they are "rebuilding" days.

You need to rest now and then -- the body does need time to recover, and it sounds like you've been going non-stop for a while. Another cause of exhaustion could be inadequate nourishment. Kicking up my protein at breakfast gave me a huge boost of energy, but we all work in different ways -- just make sure you're getting the fuel you need instead of focusing solely on a calorie deficit.

Bingo! I was going to ask if you had taken any rest days! Doesn't matter how hard you are working or how long your workout is, rest days are important. The 30DS uses weights and body weight moves, and if you're doing it every day, you're not giving your muscles any time to recover and heal.

I'm guessing that moving to Level 2 and starting new moves has pushed your body a bit harder and caused the feeling of exhaustion. That's your body telling you it needs a break!

Personally, I find that I can't afford to NOT take a rest day or two per week. I come back stronger, refreshed, ready to tackle a tough workout.

Also peeked at your diary - you may need to eat more! Between the breast feeding and the exercise, your body is working hard, and it looks like most days you are netting below 1200 calories. I burn fewer calories than you do most days, I'm not manufacturing milk for a baby, and I net between 1500-1800 a day, and I'm still losing the fat. Your body needs fuel to keep up with those workouts and the breastfeeding.

I prefer that term. "rest" makes me feel lazy.

Even Jillian won't tell you to do it in 30 days straight - I did 6 on one off when I did it last month. If you're that wiped your body is telling you something.

I was before, but I upped my calories by lowering my weekly weight loss to 1/2lb.. Yesterday I got 1560, the day before over 1600.... I always try to eat back all of my exercise calories and my daily goal is around 1700. I usually only leave 100-200calories uneaten simply because I am not hungry anymore.
But what you all are saying makes sense. I will start taking one rest day per week. :) And maybe do a light walk that day.

yeah I saw this in a thread yesterday and it was news to me! The name 30 day shred is quite deceiving. EVeryone told me 10 days per level, no rest days. But I see now they were wrong, i will definitely take a rest day tomorrow.

It confuses a lot of people! When she came out with Ripped in 30 she added into her spiel to work out 5-6 days a week, I think for that reason. :)

Make sure you look at your NET calories on your home page - using yesterday as an example: Your diary shows you ate 1540 calories, but you burned 561 calories... 1540 - 561 = 979 net calories for the day. The day before, only 1055. The net number of calories is what you want to aim for - netting below 1200 is no bueno.

that doesn't seem right to me.
It has my goal of 1791 INCLUDING exercise calories. I ate 1540 of those..... Without exercise my goal calories are 1230.
1230 plus the 561 I earn though exercise equals 1791 calories throughout the day, I ate 1540, leaving 251 calories uneaten.

I am eating at my max as is. I struggle to find things to eat to make sure I am not eating too little. I can only eat so much.

You might want to get your iron checked too ... I'm anemic and have to take iron, feeling tired and weak are symtoms
unless you feel that you feel this way totally from exercise...

yeah I am borderline anemic, so I am monitoring my iron intake on here as well so I can get as much as I can.
I feel this way only after exercise, but the low iron could have an effect on my body as well.
