squishy sneaker?

The last two runs I've gone on my right sneaker makes a squish sound every step I take. I bought them back in March and run less than 10 miles a week...time for a new pair? My husband says his sneakers squish all the time and his are new (so he seems to be in favor of me not buying new shoes!) but after my run last night my right knee (squish shoe side) hurts pretty bad and that knee has never bothered me.

Are the shoes wet? My running shoes squish after a particularly long or hot run (from sweat), or when I run in the rain. The shoes are noticeably wet wet when this happens, so the reason is pretty obvious. If the shoes aren't wet you may have burst a Gel pack or air pack or whatever your shoe uses for cushioning. That shouldn't happen with so few miles on them (running shoes are usually good for at least 500 miles or so), but you may have stepped on something or gotten a defective pair.0

Nope, they weren't wet.0

How many miles do you have on them approximately? The general rule of thumb is that you should replace running shoes somewhere between 350 and 550 miles, depending on your body weight, the surface on which you usually run and your running style.0

I think generally if you are doing outdoor running sneakers last a bout 6 months. They may look good and Id say keep them for hanging around or gym days that you arent running but it may be time for new ones. Not so sure about the squish or if its just coincidence on your knee pain but I think 6 months is the limit. Found this article and its says 300 to 400 miles depending on turrain and weight of runner.

Did you get them at a running store I would go back if so and ask them as the others said thats way to few miles to have to replace I do over 20 miles a week and a pair is usually good for 6 months and at that they dont squish just wear the heel area usually.0
