South Beach Diet Phase 1

So I recently started the South Beach Diet. I have done it before a long time ago after my son was born and I was successful but as most of my diet attempts went I cheated a lot and after a short amount of weight loss I gave up. I feel really motivated to make this work however the headache I have is killing me. I am on day 2. I have been drinking a lot of water. I have been eating regularly including snacks. I had a cup of coffee, black, because I thought that it was caffeine withdrawal or something. I have a snack and that helps a little but then the headache returns. I don't know what to do but I really don't want to give up on day 2. I think this diet plan could work for me but the headaches need to go. Any advice?

Going on reduced carbs has a diuretic effect and you lose sodium along with the initial wate rloss. Hence the headache, dizziness and other "Atkins flu" symptoms.
Drinking more water makes it worse.
Get a teaspoon of salt into you per day extra for a few days. Soy sauce or vegetable broth / bouillon are other ways.0 -
I didn't think of that. It makes sense that the grilled chicken and broccoli I ate at Chillis ended up making me feel better. Very salty. I also hadn't had any soda that day and usually I have coffee and soda during the day. Trying to make sure I have one or the other now. Thanks.0
