I just found this website from a friend of mine tonight. I am really needing help here. I am used to either restricting not eating anything at all or binging and eating everything in sight. So I need some help. What do I eat? Wishing I have a live in nutritionist who would tell me what to eat each meal on a daily basis. If anyone has and ideas suggestions. What to eat how to get started that would be super helpful thank you.

Is your goal just to get control over what you eat, or do you have a fitness/weight loss goal you are aiming for? It all depends on what you want to do, and unfortunately there's never one "right"answer that fits everyone. But gaining control over what you eat and why you eat it...........makes a huge difference and takes less effort than I thought it would. Lots of good sites that suggest diet types depending on what your goals are, depending on what activities you do for fitness, also. I stick with Runners'World and LiveStrong usually, and being a runner with a weight loss goal, I focus on proper carb loading, protein intake, and total net calories mostly. I'm down 45 pounds in two years now, feeling great, and I feel in control of my diet for the first time ever. Good luck to you--you will find plenty of support and advice on this site, just make sure you choose something that works for what YOU want.0

Thanks for writing. My goal right now is two fold. One to lose weight and get in shape. I want to run a 10K in April. Second is to get my blood sugar levels down. Also to get control over what I eat, when I eat, how much I eat etc...0

Trust me when I say, you dont want to refer to a Nutritionist... Registered Dieticians who work in conjunction with your primary care physician is the right way to go.
You need to ask yourself how dedicated you want to be. How dedicated are you willing to be and if you can make the commitment happen, and how to get yourself back up when you make a choice not to commit.
Clean your house of all junk food, processed foods, boxed foods, etc - give yourself a good start. The more fresh the foods are, the better for you.
If you have no medical restrictions, no medical prescriptions then, I would suggest going to http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ and fill in the information in each field.
This is a free online calculator to calculate what your current BMR is, your current TDEE... and your TDEE-15%.
BMR: basal metabolic rate is what the absolute minimum caloric intake needed for your body to function at the basic level.
TDEE: This is the caloric number total that your body needs to get through the day (0 movement, basically a bed bum that doesnt move at all)
TDEE-XX%: The caloric daily goal to follow to lose weight.
Start right there for your numbers... enter them in your profile/goals...
You dont need to report your exercise burned calories because with the way you calculate your intake using that calculator, the activity you select will be taken into consideration.0 -

Those sounds great, and definitely achievable without superhuman effort or expense. I definitely agree with the post below mine--talking things through with your doctor for recommendations is always a good move. In the meantime, the suggestions about cleaning certain foods out of your house.................I agree that is a great move, but just my personal opinion..............WAY too difficult to accomplish with young kids in the house. If you can do it, AWESOME! I am in awe of people who can be that thorough.
MyFitnessPal did for me what I was never able to get before--that last piece of the puzzle. I'm not a dictator with my calories, but MFP keeps my awareness up of what I'm eating, portion sizes, and trends (like what types of foods tempt me more, what foods seem to be "comfort"for bad days) and see what I can replace to combat those pitfalls. To my surprise, it wasn't difficult to change my diet. I haven't made any drastic changes in WHAT I eat, but I pay a lot more attention to labels, ingredients, portions, and when I eat meals. Running was my method as well--so I spent a lot of time in Runners'World and Running Times magazines. Lots of good, practical suggestions in there for diets, meal plans, recipes, etc.
Check out www.skinnytaste.com for some EXCELLENT recipes too!
Running is awesome. I used to hate it, now I'm addicted two years after I started. 45 pounds gone, cholesterol way down, and I feel better than I have in 20 years.0
