Eating after cardio workout?

A little background:
Ive been exercising for almost four months now-before that i hadnt exercised in years. I only walk right now because my weight hurts my knees if i try to run, but i do a brisk walk, i make sure i work hard and sweat. I started out barely able to do 30 mins, then i went to 45, then for the last two mos its been an hour, and in the ladt week ive bumped it up to 75 mins most days.
I eat a big breakfadt of 500-700 cals around 9-10 am, and i go for my walk around 7-8 pm. I get back around 8-9 pm. The bf gets home around then, so if say im done with my walk at 9, we'll eat around 10:30.
My question is, with walking 75 mins now (at a brisk pace-today i walked 4.46 miles in that time), is it ok that i dont eat til an hour or two after i come back from my walk? Am i supposed to have something right after? Is it hurting me if i dont? And if i should, how many calories should i eat? Would 200 be enough?
Thanks in advance for any replies

After doing a full session at the gym, I'm usually shaky, but I walk it off (to car or whatever). I dont eat till about an hour later so IMO you're fine
yesterday tho, I really pushed the body so had to have an apple, though I spose even then it was an hour later lol!
if you do feel shaky make sure you get something in you
as long as you're being safe I'm sure its ok0 -
Also!
one thing I did notice, you eat around 10:30pm? thats awfully late, I heard it's best to eat before 6-7pm. However you've lost 25lbs so far, so if it's working keep it up0 -
i eat a hour after exercising because the body still burns fat and eating would interrupt that process
10.30 does seem late but like Eloira said, if it works for you keep doing it
good luck!0 -
Thanks to both of you as for dinner, its not always 10... Sometimes its 9 but yeah, by bf gets home around that time so i just wait for him- id rather eat with him than eat alone. It doesnt bother me-i do my walk and by the time he's here i'm hungry and ready to eat.
As for eating late being bad, i dont subscribe to that. I think what matters is how many calories you eat and how many you burn, not what time you eat them, and as you noted, its working for me
I never feel shaky after my workout, so i guess thats a good sign, that my blood sugar isnt getting too low? Probably because i eat a BIG breakfast-it keeps me full til dinnertime.0 -
