My system is not able to process raw fruits or vegetables. I have eat them cooked or drink them. Does anyone else have this problem and if so how do you deal with it. I get a little heat from people because I don't eat them and drink them instead. Did try a juicer and had the same problem. What is the difference between juicing and the can?

I have the same problem. I have crohn's disease and I have a hard time with anything high fiber. Juicing could be very good for you, but I'd avoid juices from the store if I could. Fresh made juice is a live food and much much more nutritious. My veggies have to be cooked until soft or they kill my poor belly. I can eat some soft fruits raw, but absolutely no citrus. I miss grapefruit sooooo much.
Go ahead and drink your fruits and veggies. It's better than nothing. There's a documentary about a man's journey with Juicing. It's called Fat Sick and Nearly Dead. It gives some pretty good info.

    Hope that was helpful.

My husband also has Crohn's disease. He is able to eat raw spinach and carrots, but the rest of his veggies have to be cooked. He doesn't seem to have any problems with fruit though.

In general, I prefer my fruit raw and my veggies cooked. But I know a lot of people that have a juicer, and they love it.

My hubby had ulcerative colitis and had to be really careful with high fiber stuff and foods with a lot of roughage. He has since had his colon removed (he's got a j-pouch now), and still has to be careful now that he's only running on one intestine.

Poor guy really misses salads - he loved them! He occasionally will eat a little, but has to be super careful. He can eat some fruits in small portions - grapes, bananas, melons, apricots, but like Jennifer, avoids citrus. Although he does ok with fresh lemonade. Hmmm... LOL! Just realized that!

But yep, with veggies, generally the more cooked they are, the better he does with them, and even then there are things he doesn't bother to eat any more. Sucks. For all of you dealing with Crohn's, UC or any other digestive issue, I feel for you, and I hope you can find what works for you as far as food and treatment. :flowerforyou:
