The problem with soy...

Is what?

I know I could google this but you MFP'ers must have advice from experience.

I drink miso soup several days a week, I added soy sauce to my stir fry earlier, and I like edamame, fresh or frozen.

Is this consumption harmful?

    Hello,
Check out this article from Care2: http://www.care2.com/greenliving/to-soy-or-not-to-soy.html

It gives the negatives and the positives of soy.

The soup, the tofu, and the soy sauce - check the sodium. You are likely getting an entire day's sodium in one serving. Otherwise, soy is good - it contains phytoestrogen, and a good amount of protein for a plant (at least the whole forms of soy do.)

Personally, it gives me migraines and stomach cramps, but everyone is different.

Agreed, other than the sodium it's probably fine.

I've heard that there's no such thing as soy that's not GMO anymore, but that's up to you as to whether it bothers you or not.

The soup has more sodium than I'd like but I don't have any added salt otherwise - I'm always below target unless I eat turkey as well, LOL
