Staying motivated after reaching your goal

Here's a quick thing I experienced which doesn't get mentioned much.

As you lose weight you get lots of landmark weigh-ins and helpful, positive comments from friends. Remember though, once you reach your target weight, or you take part in the sports event you have trained for, those landmarks and comments will probably stop.

I think that can be why many people find it easier to lose weight than to keep it off; the external motivation simply dries up as friends and family get used to your new shape.

Remember to work towards your goal for yourself. We all say we do that, but it's ok to admit we also do it because of what others will think of us, and how they will praise us. Once you stop changing they'll stop encouraging, so make sure you have enough self-encouragement to last!
