Has anyone seen this report from Dr Michael Moseley? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-17177251
A few relatively short bursts of intense exercise, amounting to only a few minutes a week, can deliver many of the health and fitness benefits of hours of conventional exercise, according to new research, says Dr Michael Mosley. But how much benefit you get from either may well depend on your genes.
Apparently he's been doing this ever since he tested the study

I really do believe that ANY appreciable amount of energy expenditure will help... even short bursts at a time. I know that when I purposely take the stairs up and down multiple x day when working 12.5 hour shift that I'm much hungrier, so I have to believe that 1. it is increasing metabolism and 2. creating enough of a deficit to add up to good results.0
