Eat, Fast and Live Longer - Dr Michael Moseley

Has anyone seen this Horizon programme? http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01lxyzc

Michael Mosley has set himself a truly ambitious goal: he wants to live longer, stay younger and lose weight in the bargain. And he wants to make as few changes to his life as possible along the way. He discovers the powerful new science behind the ancient idea of fasting, and he thinks he's found a way of doing it that still allows him to enjoy his food. Michael tests out the science of fasting on himself - with life-changing results.

He now fasts (eats <600calories (men) / <500calories a day (women)) every Tuesday and Thursday...

Yes I saw it and it was very interesting. I posted about this the night it was on. It looks like there are some serious health benefits to IF I am thinking about trying it out myself but haven't quite got to that point yet. Need to watch the programme again and sort it out in my head.

I follow him on Twitter and he often tweets about how much better he's feeling now he's doing this + the short burst exercise thing.

I only completed day 1 today, I'll see how it goes for a couple of weeks. If I don't see any progress I think I'll give it a go

There are loads of topics on this already, both in this forum and in the general forum.
Suggest you might do a search on it, and on fasting.
  • Good Housekeeping magazine did an article last January on the 2 day diet. You do two days of 600 cals and the rest of the week is approx 1800 cals. On the two fasting days you eat two pints of milk ( or the equivalent in low fat yogurt etc) plus 4 portion of veg, some fruit and a vitamin pill plus plenty of water. This diet has the support of a breast cancer charity as there is evidence it protects against this type of cancer.
