Hi I am Olive. I am a 31yr old stay at home mom. I need to lose at least a 100lbs. I don't have a lot of encouragment from home, my husband loves me the way I am. I haven't always been "big", but after my second child the weight never came off and I got depressed and kept gaining weight- he is now 8 yrs old and I am tired of what I see in the mirror. I have lost weight in the past but nothing like what I am going to do this time. I don't have a lot of will power and chocolate is a fav. I don't like being around a lot of people I don't know so things like going to a gym don't work for me (I get nervous/scared around people), I have a treadmill, stationary bike and a home gym thing in our garage. To make things even more fun my 8 yr old has aspergers and has a lot of texture issues so we tend to stick to comfort foods- I know I could cook 2 different things (something for them and something for me) but even being a stay at home mom there never seems to be enough time. Any tips, tricks, ideas, etc? Thanks

For me I also have over 100lbs to lose, for food I eat what I have always ate just WAY LESS of it. I hate exercising with a passion, I use our bike and treadmill I also go for a walk around the track for 20-30 minutes.
I haven't really lost any weight yet, I just started about a week ago, so no tips or tricks just eat less and be active more.0 -
Welcome to MFP! You can do this! As for those comfort foods maybe you could tweak your recipes a little to make them lower cal. And remember portion sizes. Add some veggies, switch to leaner meats and low fat dairy products. Congrats on your healthy decision!0

Welcome to MFP! You can find some great encouraging friends on here! I would recommend checking out the groups to find people in similar situations as yourself. As for some of the things you mentioned.. portion sizes are a must. A lot of people have said how they went out and bought food scales and extra measuring cups. This helps you know what exactly you are eating and how it is balancing withyour cals and marco nutrients (carbs protein and fat). When I cook for other people I try to find small ways to make dishes just a little bit healthier... leave out a little salt here, a little butter there, etc. I actually don't do well with people I don't know either (face to face that is- online its easy for me) but its great that you have workout equipment at home! I know that getting motivated can be a hard thing, but you have taken the first step by joining MFP which is great! Maybe other things you could do for exercise, taking family walks or things like that. I don't know where you live but maybe if you need to pick up something from the grocery store- and its not too far away- you could walk instead of drive. Small things can lead to big changes! I would highly recommend logging absolutely all your food and drinks. I have found it easier to keep myself accountable if I have to actually see what I ate. Also, you can log before you eat so you know if you need to maybe cut down on portions or modify meals. Sorry this dragged on forever. Congrats on joining and if you would like to add me as a friend, please do! I try to help all my MFP friends out as best I can!0

I just logged what I ate today and even though I know I started the day on a really bad note- a bunch of ice cream with my hubby, I also know ice cream isn't something we have every day. I drink water most of the time, coffee is usually only 1 cup/bottle a day- i know calories from soda, jucie, milk etc add up fast and I try to stay away from that. I do live very close to one store that I always seem to need something from and I uisually drive- walking there is a great idea. I enjoy walking around the block and such with my family and figure I will get some extra walking time in since my son just got a power wheels for his birthday. Thank you so much for the encouragement. It's having a husband who loves me no matter what but at the same time it sucks because he doesn't want me to change.0
