I just recently (today lol) purchased a pair of trail running shoes. Now... I don't trail run but I do hike. I bought these shoes for every day life and for gym work. Will these shoes transfer over okay onto treadmill running? I've been working myself up to running (I can do 1 min to 1 min 30 secs at a time then slow down and repeat, but my current shoes were pushing my toes up to the top. So with this pair I bought a half size larger (10.5 US I have a big foot).

FWIW: They are New Balance 610's below is the link to the shoe

Anyone with experience with these shoes?

  • I run in a pair of Columbia Sportswear trail running shoes and I find that they are "fine" on the treadmill but not ideal. Since there is so much tread, it's not as cushy a landing. I love them for trail running though! I had to get a good pair of insoles too which have helped a lot.

Simple gym workouts are fine in trail shoes and light hiking they should not give you any trouble. I just don't like mine for treadmill and street running so I am looking into buying a basic pair of Nikes for my gym workouts and running.

New Balance makes great shoes and I'm sure as you're easing into running you'll find that they are fine. But maybe as you get more "experienced" at running you'll want something more designed for running.

    Good luck!

Thank you! I just bought some insoles today to go with the shoes. I end up doing this with most of my shoes because I get plantar fasciitis in my heels really bad (from hiking).
