Losing Fat/Muscle

So I'm following the calorie deficit MyFitnessPal suggests while doing Power 90 (which is about 35 mins of exercise/6 days a week). MyFitnessPal suggested a deficit of 1910 calories/day for Week 1, which I followed (now it's moved down to 1880 with my new weight). When I weighed myself after the first week, I lost weight, which was awesome, but I lost almost the same amount of Muscle % that I did Fat %.
Is this normal? I figure if my initial goal is to lose weight, I will probably also lose muscle, because gaining muscle and losing fat would result in a net increase in weight most likely, I just wanted to know how you approach MyFitnessPal and Power 90, or similar situations.

How are you measuring body fat%? None of the methods are very accurate so I wouldn't worry too much week to week.0

I have a scale that uses the Bio-Electrical Impedance Analysis technology to send an electric signal through your body and it determines what is fat/muscle by how quick the signal is processed.0

Don't trust the BF reading on a home scale. Use it for a fun guide, but don't take the readings as truth. Keep lifting, keep losing, and track yourself with photos and measurements. Record your Covert Bailey measurements and track that. Still not reliable accurate, but you will know when you progressing.0

My BFP varies day to day by nearly 3% according to the bathroom scale. Those things are incredibly inaccurate and highly influenced by hydration levels and water retention. At best they're accurate to +/- 2% and I doubt you can even count on that.0

The only thing those scales are accurate with is weight.0

One more question, when do you think is the proper period to focus on maintaining weight as opposed to losing it? I was going to go with as soon as I like the way I look in terms of fat, and then start to eat more to build more muscle.
When I get to that point though, should I attempt to eat enough to gain weight and work out hard? Or would it just be enough to follow MyFitnessPal's suggested calories to maintain weight?0
