I took my shih-terrier and my german shepard in for their shots. We were earily, so my daughter (3yrs) and I were walking the dogs around outside. This man takes out his male german shep and has it on this long rope. The dog ran right for us. I was going to grab my daughter and my german shep knocked her down and sat on her and my shih-terrier who is only 35 pounds stood in front of them and started barking. They were not going to let that dog get to my daughter. I was so proud of them.
Their reward....3 shots each

Just one more reason I love dogs!!! My dobie always stands in between me and whoever!!! He leans on me and doesn't move until they go away, even if it's just my husband. He never growls or anything. Just makes sure mommy is safe! Gotta love em!!!

It's amazing how dogs (and cats) can sense what we are feeling. They know when things aren't right. I think they are truly a gift to us humans!!
Thanks for sharing. Makes me want to run home and give all my kids (dogs and cats) some hugs and kisses!

Yeah! we have a very large (75 lbs) Australian Shepherd. I never worry when Donna goes for a walk early in the morning or late as long as Shelby is with her. That boy wouldn't let ANYONE get anywhere close to her. He is completely devoted to her...and as a working dog, is used to making sure his "herd" is safe. God bless dogs...even those tiny little ones do what they can do...even it it's just to make a lot of noise!:laugh:0

We had a dog that didn't like anyone coming near any of us until he saw we were friendly he was teh guardian. We miss him, we had to give him to a friend of mine that had more time for him. Our yard was too small (only 500 sq. ft) and my husband works a lot of hours and I simply couldn't care for him the way I thought he should be cared for and get the kids to all their activities and music lessons. It is the biggest regret of my adult life that I couldn't take care of him, but he is happy and moved to Oregon with my friend and strong as an ox, so at least we did the right thing. Still miss him.0
