Is there any interest in GF group?

Just wondering if there would be enough interest to start a gluten free/Celiac's group here on MFP?

I'm very, very new to the gluten free world, and am seeking some support. If there's an interest, I'd be happy to get things rolling. I'm thinking it wouldn't necessarily be about challenges and weigh-ins like many other groups, just a group of folks that are supportive and understand what each other is going through, since it's certainly a big adjustment, and it can be super difficult at times, as I'm learning.

If you're interested, please reply!

Thank you thank you thank you!!!

I just found out yesterday that I have a gluten/wheat sensitivity, and that I need to stay away from eating that stuff because otherwise it can lead me down to Celiac's. I've been really stressed out, and kinda freaking out about it.

I don't even know what to eat now! I mean, I do, it's just changing EVERYTHING.

Cool! I'm in the process of being diagnosed with Celiac's or some kind of severe sensitivity. So, I'm no expert. Maybe there is someone on here who has been GF for a while and can be an excellent resource for us?

Nicole, do you have Celiac's? How long have you been eating GF?

Kelynn, I was never diagnosed with Celiacs. I have been wheat/gluten free for 7 years. I shouldn't say 100 % gluten-free. I do drink beer:drinker:  I actually read the book about eating by your blood type, which I am an O, and it said that I should not be eating any grains. Especially not wheat! I actually followed the advice and had lost 18 lbs. Boy...it was amazing how different I felt too...I didn't realize how horrible I felt eating it until after I cut it out. What a difference!!! I of course gained that back when I found alternative foods....which is why I am sooooo glad I found MFP!!!

Well, I'd like to have more than just the 3 of us in our group. I'm afraid it would be a stronger support system if there was more than just us in our group, what do you ladies think? We could certainly still remain in contact on MFP and message each other, but it looks like there isn't the interest I was hoping for to start a group :ohwell:

I think you are right...I thought there would be more people out there too that need the gluten-free support. I guess not!

Me too... it would be wonderful to have some people that'd be interested in our group that have been gluten-free for a while to give advice and share things they've learned along the way. Oh well :ohwell:

Hey ladies, I am not celiac and do not eat a gluten free diet but I did work in a gluten free bakery for 3 years and learned some about the lifestyle, I will not call it a disease. I also have friends that are celiacs. So I can try to help.:flowerforyou:

There is a gluten free bakery?!?! For a while now my dream has been to open a little cafe/bakery that has healthier, but delicious, versions of everyone's favorite foods. My *new* dream is to open a 100% gluten free cafe. If only I had the money, we'd have a gluten free bakery/cafe here in Connecticut, too. :ohwell:

I'm interested! My doctor suspects I am gluten/lactose intolerant so I'm eliminating gluten as a test. So far, I feel wonderful.

I was tired, achey, bloated, with horrible migraines all day. I've elminated it for 2 days - a world of difference. Go figure!!!

I have so far found brown rice bread, which was actually pretty good. I'm looking for breakfast options with some fiber - Has anyone ever made homemade muesli? I'm planning on buying some flax seed meal to help add fiber to my diet. (I used to be a high fiber oatmeal person in the morning :( not anymore!!!!)
