how to make eating healthy at work less work...

I find it very difficult to eat healthy during the day at work. Any suggestions for making or buying prepackaged foods and snacks that don't require me taking a grocery bag of food with me to work? I eat every 3 or so hours, lunch and 2 snacks during the work day. It is a lot of food and a lot of work getting it all together. Any ideas on how to streamline the process?

It's not a lot of work. Buy pre-sliced carrots, veggies, etc. Buy some fruit. Make a sandwich. Prep time takes 5 mins.
Yeah if you want to make a salad it's going to take a little bit longer, but take a little time out the night before and make lunch for the next day.
Soups are always good too, but sodium is high0 -
Homemade soups and chili's that you can freeze in individual portions are great. I haven't tried it, but Google Mason Jar Salads...apparently you can make salads ahead of time in a mason jar and they will last for days. Um...as far as snacks go, can you leave stuff at your work? If not prepack individual portions for the whole week at one time. I just recently read an article saying you should do this and keep it all in a bin inside the refrigerator so you don't have to look for it...we end up burying stuff like this in my fridge, so we forget to take it along sometimes!0

Honestly I have to agree its not that bad...its up to you how many components going into your meals...Simple snacks: veggies fresh fruit, dips, popcorn, mixed nuts, ricecakes, protein bars etc. If you have a fridge or desk at work just bring a bag of snacks for each week that you can just grab and not have to "pack" each day.
For breakfast i throw together a protein shake - takes just a minute. I make fruit/peanut butter wraps in advance or egg chese and veggie wraps to pair with my shake. For lunch..I do leftovers from the night before, misc salads, wraps, steamed veggies, fruit salads and grilled meats for lunch.
It normally only takes me 10-15 minutes each night to prep and pack my foods for the following day. Its a lot of chopping, cooking, packing but its sooooo worth it!
*** I also agree with the above poster...you can precook/ prepackage a few days in advance so you can just grab and go your meals.0 -
I agree with what everyone said. It may take you a little longer to prep when you get the food home from the store, but if you do it all then, it's just grab and go.
I prep all my snacks for the week on Sunday. Veggies get washed and put into snack size ziploc bags. I take baby carrots, cucumbers or celery. Fruit gets washed and cut up. I go for kiwi, strawberries, pineapple, watermelon, grapes or an orange.
My lunch is left over dinner from the night before or a premade salad. I grab lunch, a fruit, a veggie and either a Luna Bar or a bag of pre-measured almonds. So easy for me and keeps me from going to the vending machine.0
