So, I hate running but i think i found a way to make it more bearable. I just bought a sports tracker blue tooth heart rate monitor that sends all my workout info to an app on my phone.

i used to just run run run till i was tired. which was only about a mile. however, with the heart rate monitor i can see when im over doing it and back off when i need to. now i can last for m\uch longer when running/jogging/walking and i can burn more calories. the app is awesome because it tracks everything,

anyway, just thought i would share... i feel that any HRM was worth the money.

does anyone else use the sports tracker app and the sports tracker heart rate monitor?

Hey, I just bought a Suunco HRM, and although it isn't as advanced as yours, I agree it has made a huge difference to how far and comfortably I run now. Much better, and obviously as our fitness improves the distances will increase, and our comfort level will also increase. They are a wonderful investment, and I also recommend them to anyone who is on the journey to increasing fitness and health.

I am looking at getting a decent one that will honestly track my heart rate, and cycling miles/speed. I know there are several models out there, but so hesitant to the investment. Tired of getting something that seems to last a few months then quits working consistently. I don't run because of bad knees and feet so I have regained control with my bicycle. suggestions are welcomed. :-)

I use two different apps for tracking my cardio, and they both are compatible with the Polar Wearlink + Bluetooth, but I just cant swing that right now. They are not cheap.

Uh oh, she's into it beyond just calorie burn.

    Great work.

If you want some tweaks, because there are some personal stats it is guessing and defaulting to, so you can improve that.

But you can also vary your runs to improve different aspects. Perhaps a day before a rest day could be a real intense day a train the anaerobic system with some sprints/intervals. Perhaps the day after lifting should be gentle to allow recovery. Perhaps the day before could be a long run at good zone to allow it.

Check out the spreadsheet in this topic post. The HRM tab at the bottom.

Section on figuring out your HRmax stat, how to do some zones, and common training suggestions.

Hey, I am a cyclist, too, and reckon that if you want to check your heart rate/calories burn and also distances covered, best bet is getting a basic HRM - heaps of great ones on the market - and also a speedo for your bike. Can't read the make on mine anymore, but it tells me the speed I'm doing, how far I have come, and also gives me a total distance for the week. I love it and have had it for around 10 years now. It is a wonderful tool, and I can't imagine doing a ride without it now. It was not at all expensive, either - back then I think I paid $80 for it, tops, so that works out to around $8 per year. Not bad!!

    Good luck

I use my HRM for burn and Runkeeper for distance, speed etc. it's all I can afford / justify at the moment but it works well.
  • I use a Garmin HRM (2nd hand of e-bay) it's made a massive differenece to my running and cycling. I can see when I am trying too hard and see when I am coasting along. Don't have an app though.

If it has syncing ability, and most do, you can use a great one called SportTracks on the computer for logging and analysis - in case you want to geek on the stats.
