    Your BMI is high but that shouldn't matter if you feel and are healthy. The BMI chart can be wrong, once a teacher told me about how he had just come back from Africa and he was skinny so you could see his ribs but the BMI chart said he was overweight. It's best to talk to a doctor :)

    This is true, my auntie is the head sister at my local childrens hospital and she says BMI can be a load of rubbish!

    You don't look over weight, looks more like muscle :)

    Ha, that's what I thought, you look absolutely fine. Really nice actually. So, If you feel happy within yourself, don't worry. Just keep doing what you are doing. Confidence is feeling happy in your skin.

    sweety i dont care what the scale says or what the bmi number says, you look good. you are certainly NOT "extremely overweight" in 34 pants at your height!
    Im not sure why you weigh more than you look, if the body fat% is in the healthy range i would go by that and may be you have more muscle/denser bones.
    I cant believe your parents are saying that to you. You are at that time of your life where you are finding out who you are and where you fit into the world, you do not need to be put down by the people who are supposed to nurture you. What the hell is wrong with them??!!
    Eat well, stay active, judge yourself by the mirror and how you feel not the scale.

    If you work out that often and play baseball, your weight is more than likely in muscle form. Forget the stupid BMI and have a professional test your BF%. Don't go off what the internet says. The internet may also tell you Madonna is your mother. It will tell you anything.

    You certainly don't look fat. I'd do what some of the others said and get an accurate body fat assessment. My husband is 5'11" and was obese when he was over 200lbs. He's down to 189 and although that still makes him overweight he obviously is not.

    you are yes actually close to obese so please be careful once you get there its hard to get out remember to eat healthy not diet because they dont work & stay active and you can get down to a healthy weight

    That is NOT that big for your height, get your body fat tested, as scales don't show the amount of fat you have verse muscle ext. People on here will be mean to you, I would delete this and get that measured. People suck, and all become nutritionist and weight loss specialist after joining MFP

    A few things;

    1. You're not "fat" per se so you're parents don't know what they are talking about.

    2. You need to try a different scale. Maybe the one you're using is messed up.

    3. You're not 13% BF by the looks of that picture. Possibly 18-20%, which is normal for a guy.

    If it's a big concern, get yourself professionally measured via Bod Pod or DEXA scan.

    I think it's sad that your parents would say such a thing to you. I can understand them being concerned for you but from your pic you don't look fat at all. You are only 16 and are far to young to have any self image issues or complexes. Continue to be a 16 year old and have fun by playing outdoor sports, this will give you your daily exercise. All normal teenagers eat pizza and fries and play video games so if you are concerned just keep an eye on those things and make sure they aren't in excess. I would assume any girl your age would think you are a hottie! :)

    Ignore BMI. It is total crap when you have a high percentage of lean body mass, which it looks like you do.

    Hi babycakes. I think you have a wonderful canvas to work with, and I am so so sorry that your parents have said these things to you in the way they have. You have the perfect opportunity to get in the gym now while you are young, and pick up those weights and SMASH everything in the gym ( HULK SMASHHHHH)

    You may have some body fat to lose(dont we all?), and some fabulous muscle to gain, but you are NOT extremely obese.
    Look into Stronglifts. You will not regret it.

    By no means. My parents, mostly my mother, tells me I need to lose weight all the time. It really started bothering me so I joined MFP last month and have been working out constantly. Of course it doesn't help that she's 5"6 and weighs 120 lbs with a six pack. I have a lot of muscle for a 17 year old, but weigh 139 at 5"5. Everyone tells me I'm not fat but due to years of comments from my mom about what I eat and such, I can't get over it. But you have no reason to think that you are fat, you may not have a lot of muscle tone, but they're not the same thing

    as you can see you are only about 2stone 8lbs to be in the healthy weight range but again it varies with muscle so no your not obese

    But, you are nowhere near the 13% bodyfat marker (no offense -- but you're closer to 20 than 13) but it's not like you're morbidly obese by any stretch.

    You also appear to have a pretty even fat distribution (when I was 5'11" and 202 when I started lifting two years ago, I was all gut and it sucked. Yours seems pretty even).

    Calorie deficit + lift heavy and you should be in a completely different spot in 6 months -- if that's what you want to do.

    BMI is a joke, it is based on someone with a normal frame. I'm not even an inch taller than you and 215 is a good weight for me. BMI doesn't take your body composition into consideration, sure it might work for some people but it doesn't work for me. I would trust body fat percentage better, 13% isn't that high, you basically have about 28 pounds of fat on you. If that percentage is correct I wouldn't go much lower than where you are at now.

    If your parents are concerned about it maybe you all could go to the doctor or a nutritionist, have them do a body composition analysis and have them educate your parents a little. Sounds like they, as most of the people it seems that are responding, are only seeing your weight and not really taking everything into consideration.

    You are very young and athletic so that makes a BMI calculation less accurate. Also, at 16 years old (especially for a boy) your body is still developing. Keep doing the activities that you like. Make a concious effort to eat foods that fuel your body. Stay away from extra sugar like pop and candy. And there ya go! You shouldn't be focusing on your weight while you're still growing.

    I'm too damn lazy to read all the replies above me. I'm a mum, and as soon as I read that you were 16.. I had to reply. Your profile pic looks fantastic. You, are NOT fat. Good god, you are still growing, and are yet to grow into the man you will become. The fact that you are exercising, and keeping fit.. and playing sport says it all.

    Eat healthy and well, keep up with your sport and you will grow into the perfect man. Good luck xx

    Can't tell if this is a troll post or not, but in case it's not, or there are other people reading this topic who actually care:

    Your weight in pounds, stones, etc. or BMI are not the biggest factors to look at. I'm a former sports writer. I've covered high school football players who were 6'1" and 225 pounds. That would be considered "obese" by these numbers. But you're not obese if all your weight is muscle.

    Please don't let the scale tell you what you are. The scale is a machine that quantifies everything in digits. Use your mind, look in the mirror and make the decision for yourself.
