I read an article in the Guardian online (www.guardian.co.uk) and this statement struck a chord:
I hated games at school because it was so team-focused. I couldn't bear the pressure of competing at hockey knowing that I would probably let everyone else down and I disliked my incompetence being played out in such a public arena.

I discovered martial arts (Tae Kwon Do and more recently Jiujitsu) and found that actually, I do enjoy sport and being active.

Just thought I'd share :flowerforyou:

It's a very valid point, I don't think team sports suit everyone! Those people who say they hate exercise simply haven't found the right one for them, but sometimes you've just got to keep trying for a fair while until you find it :flowerforyou:

I felt the same way in high school. I was not good at most sports, however, I have tried most of them and been at least average. I do sports to socialize and stay active, not really to "win".

I felt the same way at school. Now, I go to the gym 4 times a week and love it!

I can set my own goals
I can do what I like, and avoid what I don't like
I can go swimming when I feel like a change

We did have a small weights room at my school. I got to use it ONCE in the 5 years I was there.

Now I REALLY enjoy lifting weights.

I use to feel the same way. We were forced to play kickball for some reason a lot when I was a little kid, and I was awful at it. I use to dread recess. What kind of kid dreads recess? I never was able to find my rhythm in exercising until I was able to do it on my own. I still sometimes wish the gym was a ghost town!
