Ever leaving MFP?

Are you planning on leaving MFP at any point? Once you've achieved your goal or learned how to maintain? Or is this a new lifestyle for you that you will remain part of forever?
MFP takes up so much of my daily life, I don't know if it's somewhere I want to be forever...

I think tracking what I eat, with being verging on morbidly obese, is something I am going to have to keep up for a long time once I get to my target weight. It needs to be a complete lifestyle change and I need to make sure I completely relearn how to eat, not only for weightloss but also then to maintain and stay at a healthy weight.
I'll see how it goes when I get there.0 -
Also it doesn't need to be every meal every day once you are maintaining. Maybe checking in every so often just to make sure you stay on track.0

Im nowhere near goal yet but my weight loss/maintenance will be a lifelong journey. So I can't see leaving anytime soon if ever. Long as I have a computer or phone, I'm going to be here0

I've logged daily for almost a year now.
I'm not sure I'll ever want to give it up. When I slack off, I start to slip. I need accountability.0 -
It keeps me accountable on the food I put into my body. I'll probably keep logging even after I hit my goal.0

This is a really good point. I feel less tempted to 'cheat' because I know my mfp friends will see it!!0 -
I know at some point it will cross my mind to give it up, I also know that is when my weight will speedily creep back up. I hope I can stick it out for life!0

I will most likely use MFP to maintain once I get to where I need to be. It gives me total accountability and I like the friends I made on here. We support each other which is most important.0

I've not even close to reaching my goal weight but I've debated logging off for the last time, multiple times. While it's great to have accountability, I get a little too absorbed in calorie counting, and that's not where I want to be forever, i.e. constantly aware of what I'm putting in my mouth, or when I'm not panicking about it. I guess I'm just one of those who doesn't find a happy medium. Graaah.0

I think I'll stick around. Not being on a community like this is what got me here. Perhaps when I've reached my goal weight I'll cut down my activity to just my pals and groups, cutting out the larger forums...but that all depends on time. I know better than to think I should go it alone.0 -
Using the iPhone app I don't feel like I'm even here. Logging has just become a part of the daily routine. I'll be here for life.0

I also have a long way to go and I doubt I will be as active once I lose. Yea its life long but by the time I lose it should be kinda second nature what to do.0

I will be leaving MFP once I reach my goal weight (it' ll take a while)...but I don't want to think about weight and calories the rest of my life. Once I am done changing my lifestyle and developped healthy habits there is no reason to become slave to logging etc0

I tried to quit tracking for three days and gained weight. I definitley need to see the numbers
in order to keep myself on track. When you plug something in and realize that it is twice the
amount of calories than you thought it was, is enought to keep me at MFP.0 -
This is a great question I was just thinking about yesterday. I am well over 100 lbs away from a final goal, but I thought about this too.
That's going to be tough to decide. I completely agree that it'll be easier to slip up if I'm away, but I DO want to get comfortable enough with what I eat everyday to be able to do it on my own without having to log every single calorie that goes into my mouth (honestly....as much as I love it here, it's exhausting to keep up with logging the food...guessing/remembering what to log/figuring out what to eat).
I guess I'll tackle this one when I get there but for now I'd say no....I won't leave0 -
MFP can turn into just another social site very easily, and when I start seeing people getting more posts and encouragement for silly things then things related to fitness and wellness, then yes I think about leaving. In the end though, the site is what you make it. -- I do enjoy the dairies and the challenges, just not all the other aspects.0

I am near goal but intend to keep using MFP. I have lost weight before and found the maintenance thing more difficult than the actual dieting, and just end up putting the weight back back on. I don't want to have to do this again, so monitoring my food and exercise is the way forward for me. I also intend to hit various fitness goals, as working towards a target focuses my mind.0

Well I feel you one hundred percent, some times I feel obligated to comment or to log on but then I think of those times when someones kind words were just enough to give me that lil push to get my *kitten* moving and I think I don't wanna rob someone of that support. In reality this site and MFP in general has all but replaced my Facebook time, I figure at least I am doing something positive for me , I mean playing angry birds or beating someone in scrabble only gets you so far.....0

I reached goal in April/May of this year and even though I don't log everyday I do check in and log 5 days a week. I want to make sure I'm eating the right things and keep up my healthy ways. After reaching goal, in one month I dropped 10 pounds (a few life-interruptions through off my body) and I'm attempting to put a few of those back on. MFP seems to help keep me on track, even if it's not every day.0

Hmmm, I can see myself becoming less involved with MFP over time. I don't think I'll be leaving in the near future, but I do hope to develop a lifestyle that allows me to leave one day.0

im not near my goal but it is time consuming and with 4 little kids i cant neglect them, mfp has taught me too look at a real serving and only eat it and that things have many more calories than what anyone thinks so i dont log every day anymore just when i have time and i also log the bad days when i have time to remind myself the hidden dangers out there, i dont want to be dependent on this program and should be able to do it on my head i feel bc if they ever start charging for the program i wont have money to pay for it0

for me MFP doesn't take much of my time because I don't spend much time on the forums etc. I focus on what I need to do for me and if I see a topic I like when i'm on my home page I will sometimes click and comment (like today) but I actually don't daily log like some do. I actually use this to plan my meals for the week then I make a shopping list from it and that keeps me from cheating ever because if I don't buy the nasty stuff at the store and it isn't in my house and I have a meal all planned out then I stick to the plan. I actually found that I spend less time doing it that way because I'm not spending much time in the week scrambling for what to eat. I will probably always use it because it is sooooooooooo easy to track food and keep on track and I too have a long way to go. My first goal is to be on here a year and lose 100 lbs. So far I've been on since end of June and I've lost 27lbs I am on track and feeling really good about myself so why would I leave some place that makes me feel so successful?0

Thats a great question.
I'm using MFP to get me back on track and I don't honestly know if I will stay with it period. I imagine I will get to my goal and need help maintaining it for a while as I don't want to be eating my Calorie count for the rest of my life lol.
I think for me it's about finding the right balance and support. Also being there to help others too. After you get to your goal you will have invaluable knowledge to hopefully help others. Not that you haven't got it now! You never stop learning even the things that don't work for you, might work for someone else.
Even at this early stage, I would hope I am going to be on here for a while after I get to where I am going, if not for myself, then most certainly for others.0 -
If I stop logging my food, I will get lazy and slip back into old bad habits. Then I will have to come back here and lose the weight again. So, I'm planning on staying here for life. I am done with the weightloss rollercoaster. I do spend a lot of time on here, but it's because I want to be here. But the logging the food part doesn't take that much time. If I got tired of the rest of it, (not that I would) there wouldn't be a problem coming on here and just logging food.0
