I just did my first ever 5k this morning.... went to log it into my excerise journal, and it needs to know how many calories I burned..... I think my time was around 48 minutes ( I am not a runner!!). I had a great time, was really proud of myself, and think I've been bitten by the running bug. Any idea of where I could go to calculate my calories burned??? Thanks :flowerforyou:

By the way be proud of yourself you've accomplished something awesome., now onward & upward.
  • Thanks so much!! I found a website that said for every 1 minute of running, you'd burn 4 calories for every 50lbs of weight........ example :a 200lb man running for 10 minutes will burn ( 160 Calories)

A good rule of thumb for running is 100 calories per mile. This works no matter how fast you are, your height, weight, etc. because all those things tend to cancel each other out. For example, if you weigh more you run slower.

I use this rule of thumb all the time because I tend to forget to bring my HRM with me.

I have a monitor and I walk 2 miles and average 140 to 167 calories for those two miles. I can run a 10 minute mile and burn 80 calories for that mile. Hope that helps
